Position Overview:

As a Looker Engineer at you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Looker dashboards and data models. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders, to ensure our data infrastructure and reporting capabilities meet the needs of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Looker Development and Maintenance:

Design, develop, and maintain Looker dashboards, reports, and visualizations.

Create and optimize Looker data models (LookML) to ensure efficient and accurate data representation.

Implement best practices for Looker development, including version control, code reviews, and documentation.

Collaboration and Requirements Gathering:

Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their reporting and data visualization needs.

Translate business requirements into technical specifications and actionable insights.

Collaborate with data engineers to ensure data pipelines and ETL processes align with Looker requirements.

Data Quality and Performance Optimization

Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data presented in Looker dashboards.

Optimize Looker performance by refining SQL queries, managing caching, and implementing other performance-enhancing techniques.

Monitor and troubleshoot data quality issues, working with data teams to resolve them.

Training and Support:

Provide training and support to business users on Looker functionality and best practices.

Develop and maintain documentation, including user guides and technical documentation.

Assist in the adoption of Looker across the organization by promoting its benefits and capabilities.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated with the latest Looker features, trends, and best practices.

Continuously evaluate and improve existing Looker solutions to enhance usability and performance.

Participate in the evaluation and integration of new data visualization tools as needed.

Requirements

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.

Proven experience (3+ years) as a Looker Developer or in a similar role.

Strong proficiency in Looker, LookML, and SQL.

Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Preferred:

Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Big Query, Redshift).

Knowledge of other BI tools and data visualization platforms.

Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).

Experience in the US healthcare sector.
