Job Summary

In this highly visible role in the Individual Disability team, you’ll have direct responsibility for key aspects of the IDI actuarial operations including financial reporting, valuation, financial planning, strategy support, operational support, and other ad-hoc research projects. This role will lead a team of onshore credentialed actuaries and actuarial students.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with a wide range of non-technical functions and will also bring a strong technical background including depth in valuation, planning, actuarial modeling (AXIS experience strongly preferred), and strong technical communication. Employees in this role are eligible for fully remote work (other than periodic in-person meetings or other periodic business travel.

Occasional travel only (such as for planning purposes, team building, or conferences) may be required.

Skills and Background You’ll Need

  • Formal and informal leadership for the division, including management of a team.
  • Champion cross training and process documentation of each product’s reporting processes.
  • Cultivate a professional, inclusive, and engaging work environment by encouraging collaboration with colleagues, ownership of results, and implementation of creative technical solutions.
  • Oversee IDI’s financial planning process and controls, coordinate updates with partners, and ensure appropriate messaging of the results with senior leadership and partners.
  • Proactively use huddles, metrics, data, dashboards, and problem solving to understand workloads and opportunities for recognition and improvement.
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute on improvements that align with the business strategy, enhance customer value and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Support strategy projections, enterprise capital strategy, and investment strategy analysis.
  • Supervise annual assumption updates to policyholder experience studies and ensuring consistent assumptions between various actuarial models and align with key partners on methodology.
  • Facilitate reinsurance analysis to potentially support sales growth, profitability, capital efficiency, and distribution footprint expansion.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory issues to determine applicability to reporting.

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

$172,750.00 - $276,500.00
