Under the direction of the Director, Benefits Americas, the Sr. Benefits Analyst is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a variety of employee benefits for a large multi-state employer. In an individual contributor role, the Sr. Benefits Analyst will work closely with the total rewards benefits and HR teams to ensure that all benefits programs are administered accurately and in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage day-to-day administration of Evonik’s US benefits for active employees and retirees including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, HSA, voluntary benefits, 401k, pension, and non-qualified retirement plans.
  • Responsible for end-to-end benefits processes of internal and external vendor systems to ensure data accuracy and overall effectiveness of benefits delivery.
  • Manage the delivery of annual enrollment and total rewards statements.
  • communicate with and educate employees, retirees, management, site HR and myHR on current and new benefits programs.
  • Oversee compliance/reporting requirements such as those required by ERISA, IRS, ACA, HIPPA, COBRA, CMS, HHS and the DOL
  • Manage the annual 5500 government filings for active and retiree health and welfare plans along with all DB/DC retirement plans.
  • Participate and gather data for the annual ERISA and various financial audits.
  • Manage all plan documents, SPD’s, BAA’s, Annual Funding Notices, SAR’s, along with updating plan amendments.
  • Manage key benefits projects such as acquisition and divestiture transactions.
  • Serve as a point of contact for benefits plan service delivery and collaborate with HRIT, data management, HR benefits administration, payroll, and other service providers to perform weekly data analysis to reconcile participant data and ensure data-file interfaces for external vendors and outsourced service providers are accurate. Reconcile and resolve benefits data issues.
  • Responsible for vendor management activities including performance, contracts, and invoicing of various service providers.
  • Research and evaluate benchmark data and new benefits trends to ensure competitive standing of Evonik’s programs. Recommend improvements for additional cost effective total rewards programs that support HR in attracting and retaining Evonik’s multi-generational workforce.
  • Support administration of Evonik’s governance committees.
  • Partner with Labor Relations on collective bargaining requirements, coordinate data requests and ensure collective bargaining agreements are updated accordingly.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree or CEBS benefits certification preferred
  • 10+ years working with complex active and legacy health, welfare, and retirement benefit plans for a US based company with multiple US locations and unions.
  • successful relevant experience and accountability of independently working on complex active/retiree health and welfare benefits, and qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, operations and service delivery.
  • experience working with in-house counsel, Finance, Comptrollers, CFO, Labor Relations, and external legal counsel to ensure regulatory compliance for all benefit programs, plans, policies and procedures.
  • experience working with several benefits vendors, recordkeepers, consultants, advisors and processing invoices for approval.
  • 10+ years of current detailed benefits experience managing entire end to end benefits processes in administering health and welfare, DB pension and DC and non-qualified benefits programs.
  • High level of proficiency with HRIS systems and data/file feeds that get transmitted to outsourced health and welfare service providers, data record-keepers and retirement benefits plan vendors.
  • Ideal candidate will be familiar with ADP EV-6 data management payroll/HRIS System and Workday to research and assist with day-to-day administrative work requirements and resolving employee issues
  • Must have a detailed working knowledge of government laws, filings, and regulations relating to health and welfare and retirement benefit plans, such as those required under ERISA, ACA, HIPPA, COBRA, CMS, HHS, IRS and the DOL.
  • Strong team player who can collaborate with administration, service delivery, benefits operations, along with clearly presenting and communicating benefits plan information.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Extremely detail oriented in all aspects of benefits work, including weekly review of data files to ensure accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical skills working with databases, Excel Spreadsheets, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and Excel files containing large amounts of data.
  • Experience working with ADP EV-6, Workday or similar benefits data systems, Outlook, One Note, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Adobe Sign.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively remotely.
  • Highly punctual, engaged, and professional in attending virtual Teams meetings.
  • Excellent intrapersonal skills
  • Extremely well organized and clear when using both written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate benefits to all audiences, employees, retirees, management and external vendors.
  • Time management, multi-tasking, and responsiveness to all requests
  • Comfortable with managing and leading change within a very visible fast moving Total Rewards function with shifting priorities and various deadline requirements.
  • Excellent administrative, analytical skills, proofreading and communication skills presenting to management, employees and global leaders
