Job Summary

This position holds strategic oversight of the Health Psychology and Research team within the Patient Engagement Centre of Excellence at OPEN Health.

This role is responsible for guiding the team in operating efficiently and effectively to deliver Psychology, Behavioural Science, and Market Research projects. As a key leader within the Patient Engagement team, the role involves shaping the team's direction, ensuring alignment with the broader organization's goals, and driving the successful execution and strategy of projects. The individual will be accountable for the overall performance of the team and the quality of deliverables.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Lead Psychology and Research projects as a subject matter expert both internally as well as externally:

Ā· Conduct independently desk research-based data immersion exercises, this can include:

o Systematic literature reviews

o Competitor and patient advocacy landscape analysis

o Strategic audit and analysis of client materials

o Social listening (using software such as Pulsar)

Ā· Lead on primary research activities involving various stakeholders (patients, clinicians) such as:

o Creation of primary research materials (e.g. discussion guides, consent forms)

o Management of recruitment activities and data collection (e.g. interview moderation)

o Facilitate focus groups and co-creation workshops

o Analysis of data (qualitative and quantitative) using psychological frameworks

Ā· Prepare independently presentations and reports (in formats such as Microsoft PowerPoint or Word) and present, and defend, key insights to our clients

Ā· Attend and contribute to internal and external project calls

Ā· Provide ad-hoc pitch proposal support (e.g. desk research, insights gathering) and present such insights in pitch presentations

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

Skills

The post holder should have an expert understanding of research methods, the different health psychology/behavioural science models (e.g. COM-B Model, Common-Sense Model of Self-Regulation, Health Belief Model etc) and behaviour change techniques which can be implemented within any given solution.

Experience

  • Previous experience of working in a healthcare agency or pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated record of publications in the field preferable
  • Strong research experience/understanding and good statistical knowledge
  • Working with pharmaceutical clients
  • Quantitative and qualitative research and skills in statistical data analysis
  • Experience of working in a professional environment
  • Ability to turn research findings into actionable insights
  • Knowledge of market research data protection and confidentiality guidelines
  • Ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders, such as pharmaceutical clients, service users, commissioners and managers
  • Ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a behaviour change context meeting strategic needs of clients
  • Ability to work independently on individual project deliverables with minimal support of a more senior member of the team

Education/Qualifications

  • PhD or experience working in an academic research setting
  • BSc (Hons) in Psychology
  • MSc in Health Psychology
  • Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) accredited

  • As required by business needs
