Senior Machine Learning Engineer

What we are looking for

We are looking for a smart, passionate, and effective Senior Machine Learning Engineer.

This role will be responsible for turning our 7+ years worth of data into the most valuable insights possible to drive efficiency, growth and innovation. The Senior ML Engineer will be fundamental in crafting our ML and AI strategy over the coming years and will be the domain expert. This role is pivotal and we are seeking someone with robust technical expertise, exceptional communication skills, and dedicated to delivering top-notch solutions.

What does the job involve

• Maintain, iterate and rethink existing models for credit scoring and loan approvals
• Innovate on existing data and / or new sources of data to deliver more value to our customers and our org.
• Proactively seek out and recommend new types of data to collect that will improve our AI/ML capabilities in the future
• Advocate for and inspire others with the potential of AI/ML to improve our org. This includes keeping a pulse on brand new technologies and pushing to test them where appropriate
• Build and maintain robust end-to-end data pipelines to support efficient AI/ML workloads and speed up the process of testing, evaluating and adding / removing new features
• Collaborate closely with Product and Data to understand the customer, current insights and highlight opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML, including deploying and maintaining machine learning models in production.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, and experience with ML libraries and frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Experience with cloud-based ML platforms like Amazon SageMaker
• Strong problem-solving skills with experience in feature engineering, data preprocessing, and model evaluation.
• Experience with Data Science and statistical methods
• Track record of delivering 0 to 1 AI/ML projects

Experience with NLP, deep learning, or other advanced AI techniques.

• Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes) for scaling ML models.
• Knowledge of big data technologies such as Apache Spark or Hadoop.
• Prior experience working in the financial services industry or with credit scoring models.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Experience with ETL/ELT processes
