Position Overview

Due to an ever increasing number of products, we need an additional Localization Engineer. Working closely with our Development and Content teams, you will coordinate the localization of our software and content in 8 languages (French, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese Brazil, Spanish LatAm, Italian, Dutch, Japanese & Chinese Simplified). This is an autonomous intermediate role that takes on preparation of localization toolkits, post-processing of translated files and other localization deliverables with little or no supervision. The Localization Engineer will often work with senior and junior members of the team across all phases of assigned translation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analysis of document, software, e-learning, and website localization kits including all source files for quotation.
  • Preparation of localization toolkits from a variety of sources for translation (.properties, .rc, .idml, .yml, .json, .xliff, .docx, .xlsx, .indd and more), which include all the files and instructions for translation. Product analysis, file format conversion, batching. Post-processing of translated files.
  • Perform post-delivery proofing, linguistic quality assurance reviews and tests.
  • Automation & systems integration between applications and translation systems.
  • Maintain existing and write new localization windows batch scripts
  • Collaborate with Localization Manager, Channel Partners, translation vendors, and other stakeholders to meet project deadlines.
  • Participate in trainings, webinars and demos of different technologies/applications related to localization and internationalization.
  • Create effective presentations and material to provide training and learning resources for others.
  • Coordinate translation work with translation vendors using XTM Cloud.
  • Test new applications/websites to check for localization issues.
  • Prepare test environments (hardware, software).
  • Enter defect reports and work with localization analysts and developers to reproduce and troubleshoot problems.

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Fast learner, you are very organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong researching skills in order to analyze a question or problem and reach a solution.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional working proficiency in English and another language (French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Mandarin Chinese or Japanese). Curious to learn others.
  • Skilled in a variety of publishing and editing software (MadCap Flare, MadCap Lingo, Rise360, Camtasia, Vidyard, InDesign, FinalCut, Photoshop, Office Suite etc.).
  • Able to read code and find defects in implementation without using the software’s GUI.
  • Able to use GitHub to get and commit files from different repositories and troubleshot issues.
  • Advanced knowledge and ability using multiple editors, localization tools, open source alternatives etc.
  • Experience in the localization field.
  • Experience in automation for localization.
  • Experience using CAT tools.
