Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Laser Weld Engineer to join our battery pack manufacturing team. The Laser Weld Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing laser welding processes and systems to ensure the production of high-quality products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laser welding in a battery pack manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

Drives a culture of safety, quality, and excellence in all aspects of work.

Design and develop laser welding processes ensuring adherence to product specifications & requirements.

Work closely with design engineers, machine vendors, production team, and quality to ensure the successful integration of laser welding processes into production.

Participates in quotation proposals by developing manufacturing concepts, in accordance with prescribed engineering, quality and customer requirements

Conduct feasibility studies and trials to determine optimal welding parameters.

Monitor and analyze laser welding processes to identify opportunities for improvement.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to laser welding, including equipment malfunctions, material incompatibilities, and process deviations.

Oversee the installation, calibration, and maintenance of laser welding equipment.

Develop and implement quality control procedures and standards for the laser weld process

Perform inspections and tests on welded components to ensure they meet specifications.

Create and maintain detailed documentation of welding processes, parameters, and results.

Prepare technical reports and presentations for management on laser weld process performance.

Provides technical and direct assistance to supervisors on day-to-day operations, making them aware of manufacturing plans and assisting them in achieving optimum results

Provide technical support and training to production staff on laser welding process & its verification.

Stay current with advancements in laser welding technologies and industry best practices.

Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency and product quality.

Qualifications

Requires related four (4) year college degree

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in laser welding or a similar manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of metallurgy, material properties, and welding mechanics.

Knowledge of quality control standards and inspection techniques for welded components.

Knowledge of CQI-15 Welding Assessment

Proficient in interpreting complex engineering, tool and equipment drawings

Proficient math and analytical skills

Experience in CNC programming

Solid understanding of metallurgical properties of metals used in LFP Cell & Module/Pack manufacturing

Experience in LFP Cell & Module/Pack manufacturing processes, e.g., assembly, welding, and inspection including NDT

Experience in LFP Cell & Module/Pack welding techniques, specifications, and requirements

Experience planning/managing capital expenditures

Computer/software proficiency

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Complies with all safety procedures and company policies

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
