Do you want to work at a department with a strong sense of purpose?

As ING’s Fraud department, our mission is to protect the financial wellbeing of our customers and drive digital excellence and growth. We are at the forefront of fighting fraud and play a key role in keeping banking safe for both customers, and society. We are a critical enabler in ING's ambition to become the best mobile-led bank on the continent. Authentication & Consent, part of the ING fraud department, is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining authentication solutions that enable safe and smooth use of ING products and services. We make sure our customers –and not fraudsters- have 24/7 access to (digital) banking and can give consent on financial and non-financial transactions. Will you join us on this road towards building the bank of the future?

Work in a team with a focused and complex mission

Our ambition: authentication solutions that are so intuitive, customers do not need help using them. At the same time, we must facilitate ING’s growth ambitions, for example by allowing prospects, heirs, and legal representatives, to bank digitally with ING. Our current portfolio of authentication solutions needs a revamp to fully support digital excellence and growth again. Significant change is required to improve ease of use, reduce complaints, maintain safety, and keep up with an ever-changing threat landscape; naturally, our services must comply with upcoming changes in rules and regulations (e.g., PSD3/PSR, eIDAS and the European Accessibility Act). To help the organization navigate these challenges, we are establishing an Authentication & Consent Center of Expertise (CoE); a small, dedicated, unit of experts, offering great opportunities for development and highly interesting topics to work on.

Roles and responsibilities

As a ‘Business Developer', you will be part of the Authentication & Consent Center of Expertise. You will collaborate with (senior) stakeholders across the bank, to pave the way for new solutions, balancing the need for digital excellence & growth, with the imperative of safety and fending off fraud. You will translate the rapid changes in customer needs, products, services, technology, fraud, rules and regulations, into viable projects and solutions that enable the strategic targets of the bank. In a fast-paced, complex, environment, you will take the initiative, think critically, and engage with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Design and maintain our authentication means portfolio. Our environment, both internal- and external, changes constantly, you will translate these changes into requirements that help keep our authentication & consent solutions fit for purpose.
  • Ensure our roadmap is in line with what is required of authentication means portfolio. Requirements change, you will support the organization in keeping abreast of this change.
  • Prepare, enable, and strategic drive decision making. Ideas will only make an impact if they are put into action, you will facilitate the organization in selecting the right actions.
  • Initiate, design, and lead projects – we call that the Discovery phase (problem- and solution fit) – so that solutions are specified and prepared in such a way they can be properly delivered by the Product’s own or global delivery squads.

What will you be doing?

In the Authentication & Consent Center of Expertise, you work with other experts, product managers, engineers and the product (area) lead to build and help execute a clear Authentication & Consent roadmap that supports ING’s growth ambitions. You will be combining the work of multiple high stakes projects and programs with our own desires to improve our authentication portfolio.

  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into actionable improvement proposals.
  • Assess the impact of changes, prepare implementation solutions, and be closely involved in the execution.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the bank to validate, improve and align your advice.
  • Drive strategic initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance and enable business value creation.
  • Your challenge will be to develop and accelerate the ‘aim for growth’ roadmap from a fraud prevention perspective and align this with other (senior) stakeholders across the business and IT.
  • Your role will be very diverse and challenging; you will be designing new solutions, working with UX (user experience experts) and channel experts to optimize the journey across ING. You will also identify, assess and propose mitigating measures to the risks involved with new solutions. Balancing the needs of our customers and many other stakeholders;
  • You are willing to travel occasionally.

How to succeed?

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning and take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself. Furthermore, you have:

  • 5+ years relevant work experience in a complex, knowledge intensive, technology heavy, and Agile environment; for example, as a (Management/Strategy) Consultant, Project Manager, Product Owner, or Product Manager.
  • Consultancy skills: strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, able to identify potential vulnerabilities in products, processes, and customer journeys, and propose strategic, innovative, yet practicable solutions to mitigate them, within the context, and the constraints, of a large retail bank with a customer base of nine million.
  • It’s a plus if you demonstrate in-depth knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: CIAM, SSI, IDV, fraud detection- and prevention, payments, customer journeys, product- and service innovation, rules and regulations (e.g. PSD2, PSD3/PSR, eIDAS, NIST Digital Identity Guidelines, GDPR).
