As a Process Implementation and Development (PID) Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes for quantum chips. You will play a crucial role in transitioning new products from development to production, ensuring technical quality, and meeting timeline requirements. Collaborating closely with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams, you will be instrumental in the smooth introduction of new products.

What will I be doing?

  • Project Management:
    • Overseeing Timelines: Managing and coordinating project timelines to ensure milestones and deadlines are met throughout the product development and launch phases.
    • Resource Allocation: Overseeing the allocation of resources, including personnel, budget, and equipment, to optimize the product development process.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams:
    • Feasibility Studies: Leading discussions with cross-functional teams to conduct feasibility studies, ensuring that new product designs can be efficiently manufactured within existing capabilities and resources.
    • Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Providing critical feedback to design engineers to optimize product designs for manufacturability, ensuring that the designs are practical, cost-effective, and scalable.
  • Prototyping and Testing:
    • Prototype Development: Managing the production of prototypes to test and validate product designs.
    • Testing and Validation: Overseeing testing processes to ensure the product meets all specifications and regulatory requirements before full-scale production begins.
  • Process Development and Validation:
    • Manufacturing Process Setup: Developing and setting up the manufacturing processes required to produce the new product efficiently at scale.
    • Process Validation: Ensuring all manufacturing processes are validated and capable of producing the product within required specifications consistently.
  • Quality Control and Assurance:
    • Quality Standards Implementation: Implementing quality control measures and continuous monitoring to ensure the product meets all quality standards from the outset.
    • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring the product complies with all industry-specific regulations and standards.
  • Cost Management:
    • Cost Optimization: Analyzing and optimizing costs throughout the product development and manufacturing processes to ensure the product is profitable.
  • Ramp-Up to Full Production:
    • Production Ramp-Up: Managing the ramp-up phase to scale production from prototype or low-volume to full-scale production.
    • Capacity Planning: Ensuring that production capacity meets the market demand at launch and beyond.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Process Optimization: Continuously evaluating and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle times, and increase yield without compromising quality. Identifying and implementing lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and streamline operations.
    • Root Cause Analysis: Conducting thorough investigations of any process failures, defects, or inefficiencies using root cause analysis techniques (e.g., 5 Whys, 8D) and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Technology and Innovation Integration: Staying up to date with advancements in manufacturing technologies, automation, and software tools, and recommending or implementing innovative solutions that can improve process control, monitoring, and efficiency.

What skills do I need?

  • PhD or Masterโ€™s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nanotechnology Manufacturing, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in micro/nanofabrication, product development, or manufacturing,
  • Strong understanding of product development and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of process development, tooling, equipment, and quality assurance.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
