Learning Assessment Coordinator (Operations & Policy Analyst 3)

This recruitment is for one (1), regular, full-time position located in Salem, OR (4190 Aumsville Hwy SE) and is represented by Oregon Public Safety Association. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and may be used to fill future vacancies.

What you will be doing:

The Learning Assessment Coordinator enhances the quality of public safety training by applying educational principles of learning and assessment to curriculum and instructional practices. This position coordinates all academic and testing accommodations and provides learning support to adult students attending the academy. Additionally, this position helps develop and support academy instructors to deliver training that is effective and inclusive. The Learning Assessment Coordinator works collaboratively with curriculum, instructor development, and training staff.

About DPSST:

The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) oversees the development of professional standards and the delivery of quality training for law enforcement officers, corrections officers, parole and probation officers, firefighters, telecommunicators, and emergency medical dispatchers. DPSST is also the regulatory agency that enforces employment and training standards for the above listed public safety disciplines and licenses proprietary security managers, security contractors and officers, polygraph examiners, and private investigators.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and four (4) years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work.
OR
Any combination of experience and education equivalent to seven (7) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skills for the classification.

Successful candidates selected to move forward will meet the minimum qualifications and present the requested skills/desired attributes within their application material and cover letter. Note: You do not need to have all of these qualities to be eligible for this position.

  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of adult learning and educational principles.
  • Experience creating curriculum for adult learners including curriculum project planning and management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work while demonstrating tact, diplomacy, patience and elicit cooperations through discussion and collaboration.
  • Extensive experience developing and assessing learning outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in designing formative and summative learning assessments.
  • Experience evaluating student and program outcomes and providing recommendation or changes for improvement.
  • Experience collaborating and communicating with diverse subject matter experts to create inclusive curricula.
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve issues that may come up in this position and provide recommendation or changes for improvement.

Special Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates with a Master’s Degree in a related field.
