JOB SUMMARY :

As a member of the Application Development and Analytics team, the Full Stack Developer addresses the business requirements of the Firm’s users by identifying needs, creating, and customizing applications, and providing ongoing support for those applications. The Developer collaborates closely with attorneys, business services staff, the IT Application Development and Analytics team (other developers, SQL database administrators), the Applications Support team, the Networking team, and the Operations team.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS :

This is a professional position, reporting to the IT Manager of Application Development. The scope of responsibilities is firm-wide, and the incumbent will be in frequent contact with the other developers and other members of the Application Development and Analytics team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Propose innovative and workable solutions that conform to industry and firm standards, using firm standard tools (currently .NET, SQL, SharePoint)
  • Implement solutions on time, adhering to deadlines and communicating impediments to meeting them
  • Test solutions
  • Create/publish documentation including an outline of the problem or need as it is understood; detailed descriptions of data and program structures; input in the creation of end-user manuals
  • Coordinate project rollout (testing, hardware/software needs by operations or programming managers, creation of data repository, backup, and security schema by system administrator and/or operations staff, import of data, training and documentation needs, upgrades where necessary, downtime/rollouts, rollout evaluation) with users and peers
  • Partner with other developers in support of critical projects
  • Support applications as needed
  • Continually review existing applications with users, evaluating for relevancy, staleness, usefulness, and changing needs
  • Train the IT and Legal Admin Services Trainers, Help Desk analysts, or attorneys and business services staff
  • Maintain the IT Resources site with application know-how, both in-house and third-party, known resolutions to problems, documents related to the development of in-house applications and third-party application materials, user accounts used in applications, servers (SQL Server, Application Server, Utility Server, etc.) used in applications, and any valuable information that the team needs to function
  • As needed, implement solutions and fixes during off hours to minimize impact to users
  • Investigate and learn new tools and systems that might facilitate the efficient creation of necessary programs; keep current on existing systems. Pursue relevant training classes
  • Learn, implement, and maintain third-party solutions (with a SQL Server database back-end) that the firm purchased instead of developing an application from the ground up
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned
  • Work with attorneys and business services staff to identify business needs. Work closely with end users to perform thorough needs analysis of business tasks. Evaluate/suggest the role of application in the greater Fried Frank application schema

Qualifications:

Education: BA or BS in Computer Science or related field or comparable experience

Experience: Minimum of four years experience with needs analysis and web application development

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent systems analysis, design, and programming skills
  • Robust understanding of client/server programming, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and relational database design and an understanding of the interdependence of programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to research, visualize, describe, and develop solutions for both management and end-users
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision on multiple projects, reprioritizing as necessary
  • Knowledge and experience with Azure DevOps, Agile Development best practices, CI/CD, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Power Apps, Microsoft Flows, and Microsoft Power BI is a significant plus
  • Experience in ASP.NET (VB.NET preferred), C#, MS SQL Server including Report Builder (Power BI is a plus), IIS, web browsers, and Windows operating systems (including a basic understanding of Active Directory)
  • Practical experience integrating third-party APIs and SDKs to enhance VB.NET applications, including parallel and asynchronous programming
  • Proficient in utilizing RESTful APIs and GraphQL
  • Familiarity with Telerik components commonly used in .NET applications for UI development and familiarity with SOAP APIs is a plus
  • Preference for experience with ASP.NET Core (HTML5, Angular, or React)

The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

New York Salary Range

$130,000—$150,000 USD
