The role of Senior Business Analyst sits within the Performance & Planning team as part of the SPR Office and is responsible for defining and implementing a framework for reporting to track the overall performance of the ScottishPower Renewables business. The postholder will prepare reports for Executive Management that clearly tracks performance against business objectives and defined KPIs.

The Senior Business Analyst also has responsibility for ensuring that group wide corporate governance framework is complied with by ensuring that Board and committee deadlines are met and that all papers are fully reviewed and signed off by relevant stakeholders.

The Senior Business Analyst will ensure that progress against short and long term business plans is tracked and will support in the revising and updating of business forecasts, including the collation and presentation materials relating to Key Performance Metrics.

What you’ll be doing

  • Design and implement systems and processes to measure, report, and improve performance reporting at SPR Executive level. Embed a programme of regular reporting to Executive Management on business performance.

  • Liaise with relevant business contacts to understand and explain variances and expected outturn position against performance objectives.

  • Identify and escalate trends and early warning indicators based on analysis of performance data.

  • Coordinate the reporting requirements of the SPR-wide business fora including Boards, Management Committee and internal governance meetings.

  • Ensure all Board and committee papers are appropriately reviewed and signed off in line with relevant deadlines through managing a broad range of stakeholders.

  • Support the process of preparing and updating business plans and forecasts through collation, analysis and presentation of multiple strands of information (including views on headcount, finances and project pipeline)

  • Collation and presentation of performance metrics of the SPR business across the financial year, at each Rev and budget setting

  • Mange the SPR-level reporting of business initiatives such as Transformation Projects that will require monthly executive summary reports

  • Utilise technology to drive meaningful analysis / insights from data and identify appropriate digital routes to track and report on business performance.

What you’ll bring

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in commercial/business subject such as economics, finance, business management, or numeric degree.

  • Experience in managing performance reporting at an Executive Level and ability to understand, interpret and challenge metrics to support the achievement of business objectives.

  • Experience in developing business plans across the short and long term, bringing together multiple data sources to create a cohesive business view.

  • Advanced problem-solving skills.

  • Experienced in data analysis / data storytelling- able to communicate effectively using data presentation.

  • Advanced relationship and stakeholder management skills and confidence working with Senior Management.

  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build networks, influence decision makers and develop key specialist decisions.

  • Excellent report writing, presentation skills and ability to summarise key information across Microsoft Office packages.

  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
