Job Description

Blue Water Thinking is seeking an experienced and dedicated Communications Analyst to join our team, supporting a large project at the Department of Veterans Affairs. The primary responsibility of this position is to contribute as a team member on consulting staff assignments, performing a variety of tasks that require both practical experience and advanced theoretical knowledge in communications, while understanding the overall purpose of each task assignment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the creation and distribution of internal and external communications, ensuring that all messaging is clear, accurate, and aligned with project goals.
  • Support internal and external communication efforts by conducting research and gathering relevant data.
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis to identify key audiences and tailor communication strategies that effectively reach diverse groups.
  • Coordinate with team members and stakeholders to ensure clear and consistent messaging.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication initiatives, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure communication materials are aligned with organizational standards.
  • Assist in preparing for client meetings, workshops, and briefings by developing communication materials and strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related discipline.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in communication tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in federal government or healthcare-related communication projects.
  • Experience supporting communications efforts in a Program Management Office (PMO), ensuring messaging aligns with project governance and reporting requirements.
  • Experience working on multi-channel communication campaigns, including social media, email, and web-based platforms, to ensure consistency across various channels.
  • Familiarity with strategic communication planning and implementation processes.

Eligibility:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role.

Compensation:

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is outlined below.

Salary range: $65,000 - $80,000.
