Sony Honda Mobility of America Inc, based in Culver City, CA, is a subsidiary of Sony Honda Mobility Inc headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. As a 50/50 joint venture between Sony and Honda, SHM was established in Japan on September 28th, 2022, with over 200 employees in Tokyo. Sony Honda Mobility of America, situated in Culver City, California, was established in March 2023, where our dedicated team is working on introducing the electric vehicle, AFEELA, to the market. Position Summary

SHMA is looking for a Sr. Program Manager to join our team in San Mateo, C.A. As the Sr. Program Manager, Engineering Development at SHMA, you will be overseeing and managing projects, particularly in the supply chain and customer service domains, with a focus on ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of project outcomes. You will be responsible for coordinating meetings, managing partner relationships, and facilitating clear communication between international teams. The role also requires strategic project planning, risk management, and continuous process improvement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Oversee the process flow of various technical and non-technical projects at SHMA.
  • Primary Focus: Supply Chain/Customer Service domain.
    • Tasks include:
      • Arranging regularly scheduled meetings (setting agendas, scheduling participants).
      • Conducting/moderating meetings.
      • Providing communication support during meetings (English/Japanese).
      • Creating meeting minutes.
      • Managing To-dos/action items.
      • Communicating with project members, including partners, about project-related matters (English/Japanese).
      • Creating relevant documents and making presentations.
      • Creating/maintaining project milestone calendars.
      • Communication support on Slack channels (where relevant).
      • Make sure that the project produces the required deliverables within the specified constraints of time and cost, and achieve the desired results.
  • Partner Relations: Managing partner relationships, especially in technical domains.
    • Communication: Engaging with US partners in a trustworthy manner.
    • Understanding Requirements: Grasping partners' technical needs/requests and conveying them to SHMA/SHM.
    • Representing SHMA/SHM: Accurately communicating SHMA/SHM's needs/requests to partners.
    • Facilitating Discussions: Appropriately involving stakeholders, including partners, in discussions.
    • Identify mutually beneficial relationships that develop into further opportunities for business growth and success.

Qualifications for Position

  • Native English speaker
  • Native Japanese speaker or proficient in Japanese for business use
  • Over 5 years of project management experience
  • Experience in global project management
  • Experience working with teams of various nationalities and cultures
  • Ability to manage projects across multiple time zones
  • Preferably with experience managing projects between Japan and other countries
  • Experience in project management with partner companies
  • Full-cycle project management: Overseeing projects from initiation to completion.
  • Risk management: Identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Performance and metrics management: Tracking project progress and measuring outcomes.
  • Reporting and documentation: Maintaining clear and accurate project records.
  • Resource allocation: Distributing tasks and responsibilities among team members.
  • Process improvements: Continuously seeking ways to optimize project workflows.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills clearly conveying information and facilitating open dialogue.
  • Problem-solving: Addressing challenges creatively and effectively.
  • Organization & time management: Prioritizing tasks and managing schedules efficiently.
  • Strategic and collaborative thinking: Formulating plans that align with organizational objectives.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $150,000 to $170,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
