Skin Analytics is an award-winning digital health company that has launched the world’s first AI-supported Skin Cancer pathway for a faster skin cancer diagnosis. Our AI as a Medical Device (AIaMD) is deployed in 18 NHS organisations, and growing. As Skin Analytics enters an exciting phase of growth, we're seeking a dynamic and innovative Head of Engineering to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead our technical efforts in revolutionising skin cancer diagnostics and improving patient outcomes.

  • Has experience with or interest in working within regulated industries (healthcare experience is a plus, but not required).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Oversight
    • Oversee all technical aspects of our products, ensuring the use of best practices in development and deployment.
    • Get hands-on when needed (approx. 60/40 split of hands-on time)
    • Lead by example
    • Own the technical roadmap for the company and ensure its implementation
  • Architecture and Design: Lead the design and architecture of scalable, efficient, and secure systems. Ensure Regulatory compliance of our platforms.
  • Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and grow the teams of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Project Management: Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resources to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of products.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including Product, AI, Clinical and Operations to ensure Skin Analytics offers the best service to its users.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve our tech stack and engineering processes.
  • Working within a regulated environment: We create and manage medical software which is built to conform with a number of regulatory standards, so experience with this (or similarly regulated industries) is advantageous.

Requirements

  • Technical Requirements:
    • Proficient in Javascript, including frameworks such as Node.js and React.js
    • Extensive experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure.
    • Experience with data management and visualisation platforms (e.g. AWS QuickSight)
    • Experience with Relational and Document databases, CI/CD tools, Git, Linux Systems, Monitoring tools
    • Experience with integrating with 3rd party solution providers
  • Education: University degree or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in CS, engineering, software engineering, or related field
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams.
  • Project Management: Excellent project management skills with a history of timely delivering complex projects.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Agile Methodologies: Experience with Agile development methodologies.

  • 1st Stage: Screening Call with our Talent & People Lead (30 mins)
  • 2nd Stage: Competency-based interview with our Technology Director (45 mins)
  • 3rd Stage: Presentation (60 mins) and Value Add interview (x2 15 mins) with an opportunity to meet the wider team

Skin Analytics manufactures medical devices and complies with ISO standards 13485 and 27001. As part of your employment, you will be assigned Quality Management System (QMS) and Information Security Management System (ISMS). We require that our employees agree to complete their assigned training and diligently follow all company quality management and information security processes.​​
