High Speed Signal Analysis Engineer-Lead / Senior

Position Summary

The Memory Solution Team (MST) Solution Product Development (PD) team is a new Team that is being setup in SSIR to build HW for the products like SSD, PSSD and Memory Cards. With this new capability, Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) will have End to End ownership of many of the Samsung products. The responsibilities of this team is to deliver best HW and debug for any quality or customer issue. The team will be responsible for power and performance characterization of complete system as well as individual block like Memory and Host interface.

Role and Responsibilities

• Analog validation of USB/SATA/PCIe, UART, SPI, NAND, DDR against their corresponding standard specs.
• Debug and root cause the issues in Memory and Host interface.
• Correlating Measurement results with Simulation.
• Recommending improvements at Die, package and PCB level for better system level margins for good signal integrity.
• Recommending Decaps and other filter components for better Power integrity.
• System level Noise Margin Analysis Power-Performance Analysis of Host and Memory Devices.
• Automating instruments and Data Collection using Python or any other scripting language.
• Mentoring junior engineers in the team on similar job

Skills and Qualifications

• Good knowledge of RLC circuits and transmission lines is must.
• Experience in Analog validation of DDR / NAND / PCIe / SATA / USB
• Measuring against all signal parameters for compliance testing of each interface (both Tx and Rx)
• Good knowledge of Electrical specifications of various protocols.
• Experience using IBIS-AMI, IBIS and hspice models
• Extracting and using s-parameter models
• Experience in Signal and Power Integrity of high speed serial interfaces like SATA / PCIe / USB etc.
• Experience in Signal and Power Integrity of high speed parallel interfaces like DDR, NAND etc.
• Good Hardware Debugging skills
• Well versed with Lab equipment like Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Logical Analyzers, BERT, Spectrum Analyzer, VNA etc.
• Experience on simulation tools like HFSS, Hspice, ADS, Sigrity etc..
• Excellent programming skills in a scripting language like Perl/Python etc.
• Work in a fast paced environment with rapid rate of change
• Ability to stretch to meet aggressive deadlines
• Ability to work with global teams with very diverse cultures
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
