Position Summary

This position is responsible for the development and maintenance of high-performance traffic generation tools. Designs, codes, tests, and delivers new/modified functionality. Perform as an individual contributor and collaborate with peers under the direction of technical leads on assigned project teams. Requires little direct management to complete most development tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design and implement minor components of internal high-performance traffic generation tools
• Evaluate the performance of products; tune and re-evaluate the design and implementation of current source code
• May participate in the hiring and onboarding process
• Collaborate with team members and technical leads
• Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic experience and knowledge of Linux networking.
• Basic understanding of networking protocols and technologies (HTTP(S), TCP/IP, ...).
• 1+ years of programming experience (preferably with C, Golang, Lua)
• Other key skills that are nice to have include knowledge and usage of Git, DPDK and OpenSSL
• Good analytic / troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications
• Able to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree of Computer Science or a closely related field
• 1-2 years of programming experience in at least one of these languages (C, Go)
• Programming experience in Linux network programming is a plus
• Familiar with Linux OS environment
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP stack of protocols
• Knowledge and experience with IP networking (including routing and switching) is a plus
• Knowledge with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift is a plus
• Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud
• Knowledge of CI/CD and project management tools (e.g. Git, Gitlab, Jira, Bugzilla, etc) is preferred
