Dow is seeking a highly qualified individual for the role of Global Purchasing Strategic Planning and Governance Director, located in Horgen, Switzerland.

Reporting directly to Dow's Chief Procurement Officer, you will lead a team of professionals and will be a member of the Global Purchasing Leadership Team (PLT).

The role is responsible for leading Dow’s global purchasing strategic planning and governance framework and ensuring its value contribution and positive impact on Dow businesses and functions. The incumbent will also lead Purchasing’s Supplier Diversity and Sustainability team. This includes integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion (ID&E) and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into the purchasing processes and culture in alignment with Dow’s strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies and governance structure in the following areas: Strategic Planning & Value Creation, Supplier & Market Intelligence, Governance & Risk Management, Learning & Development, Mergers & Acquisition, Supplier Diversity and supplier related ESG initiatives.
  • Lead the implementation of Purchasing strategic initiatives and ensure integration of the above principles into Purchasing’s global strategy, policies, principles, and E2E processes.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of ID&E and ESG key performance metrics in alignment with Dow’s strategic priorities.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement at the senior management level, facilitate strategic communications and change management between PLT, business and functional leaders, and external industry and government associations.
  • Continuously measure and monitor adoption and execution across the global Purchasing function to ensure alignment needed to achieve strategy, targets, and goals.
  • Represent the organization and engage with external stakeholders to understand market trends and best practices.
  • Adapt to changing internal and external requirements, including relevant regulations and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in Purchasing with a deep understanding of Global Purchasing’s strategy and E2E processes.
  • Experience leading ID&E and ESG programs.
  • Experience leading a team of professionals across geographies
  • Experience and ability working with, presenting to and influencing senior management.
  • Exceptional communication, storytelling, and influential leadership capabilities
  • Experience leading transformational change
  • Demonstrated capability to think strategically while also possessing the expertise to delve into detailed subject matter
