Overview

The Position will manage Invesco’s China business and government affairs development. This includes developing China related strategy planning and execution work, as well as advising and evaluating China’s domestic policy and regulation evolution and geopolitical issues that might impact Invesco, such as public affairs engagements, contributing to regulatory research, and driving Invesco’s China business development initiatives.

This individual will partner with the team to develop proactive public policy and contribute to stakeholder management program to impact favorably the company’s operating environment in Greater China and increase the company’s reputation and brand presence with key policy makers in China.

This individual, as subject matter expert, will work closely with the key business partners in the region, and other stakeholders and technical experts from across the Group to develop proactive public policy and stakeholder management program. The successful delivery of the program would significantly increase the company’s reputation and brand presence with key policy makers in China. This will include building strong relationships with the key business partners across the legal and compliance, investment, product development, distribution, and operations teams.

Other key Responsibilities:

  • As a member of regional CAO office, play a key part in developing strategy to ensure Invesco continued successful business growth in China.
  • Contribute to the development of China related initiatives such as business strategy, monitoring and influence the regulatory landscape, process and framework optimization etc.
  • Manages the firm's internal and external relationships with public policy stakeholders, regulators, academic institutions and think tanks. Bring deep insights in relation to the policy and regulatory development back to the company.
  • Recognized as a Government Relations expert within Invesco, provide insights of China’s domestic policy and regulation evolution. Maintain and continue building strong working relations with external stakeholders on issues affecting Invesco in China, advise senior leaders to make better decisions with a clear narrative about the China market.
  • Solves extremely complex or unique problems that have a broad impact on business unit or part of the Organization.
  • Develop solid relationship across Invesco Asia Pacific business to ensure effective monitoring and co-ordination of public policy issues in the region.
  • Advocate for Invesco to seek external perspectives from within and beyond China, present these insights in written format to enrich our understandings and guide future direction.
  • Foster strong collaboration with legal, compliance and investment teams across China (onshore and offshore) to work on market access (and related issues) and development over the capital market opening in China.

Qualifications / Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or above) holder in related disciplines. Deep understanding of the public policy environment in which Invesco operates. Public affairs, policy and government relations experience gained within the financial services sector.
  • In-depth expertise policy skills with ability to grasp and understand the significance and potential impact of a wide range of public policy issues, and identify risks and opportunities for Invesco.
  • Strong understanding of the asset management business from a commercial and operational perspective.
  • Ability to prioritize in consultation with stakeholders and build support for and understanding of their strategy both among stakeholders and implementers.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal in English and Chinese.
  • Excellent writing skills with proven record in drafting reports.
  • Good track record of execution and building strategic partnerships within a global matrixed organization, able to build trust at all levels.
  • A self-confident, responsible, a self-starter with “can-do” attitude.
  • A good team player with strong collaboration skills. Good level of maturity, able to make sound judgement and to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Willing to travel within China frequently.
