Job Summary
The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will support production personnel with training, tools, fixtures and troubleshoot various product-lines as necessary. The manufacturing engineer will lead their own projects from assignment through completion while managing outside vendor(s), assembly, verification, calibration and maintenance as required. The manufacturing engineer will plan and provide feasibility on continuous improvement projects or new products being introduced within the company.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support instrument production as required (Receiving inspection, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Programming, Assembly, Test & Calibration).
  • Measure and achieve desired results with key performance indicators.
  • Own and execute new production introduction and continuous improvement projects.
  • Work with functional leaders from the technology group and quality group for alignment of processes, design reviews and best practices in areas of expertise.
  • Update program managers and share project updates.
  • Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for assigning work to team members appropriately, communicating positively and thoroughly with leads in other areas to measure and achieve desired results.
  • Responsible for the training and development of the team members in the department.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment, department wide.
  • Be a positive leader/role model within the department and company by living the company vision, mission, values and policies and communicating any potential misalignments to management and / or human resources.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Mechanical design expertise
  • Oral and written communication skills

  • Equipment troubleshooting skills

Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5 or more years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • 2 or more years of experience with CAD (Solidworks)

Preferred:

  • 2 or more years of experience in Optics or related field
  • 2 or more years of experience in programming and/or electric design

  • Compensation - The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $80,000 - 100,000 annually
