About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented illustrator to create character illustrations for their three main protagonists. These illustrations will serve as visual aids for the author's writing process and will not include background scenes. The project requires an artist who can capture a whimsical and humorous style, drawing inspiration from the illustrations in "Gnomes" by Rein Poortvliet and Wil Huygen, while adapting it to a more relatable, everyday fantasy setting.

Responsibilities:

• Create three individual character illustrations based on provided backstories and detailed descriptions
• Capture a whimsical and humorous style that aligns with the cozy fantasy genre
• Collaborate with the author to ensure accurate representation of character details
• Provide sketches or drafts for approval before finalising the illustrations

Requirements

• Proven experience in character illustration, particularly in fantasy or whimsical styles
• Familiarity with or ability to adapt to the style similar to "Gnomes" by Poortvliet and Huygen
• Strong ability to translate written descriptions into visual representations
• Excellent communication skills to work closely with the author
• Ability to capture humour and whimsy in illustrations
