Job Description Summary

DuPont E&I has an exciting and challenging opportunity, Product Quality Engineer for the Litho Technology Business in Semiconductor Technologies. The position will be in Niigata, Japan and responsible for Quality of the products manufactured at Sasakami Plant in Japan.
The Product Quality Engineer (PQE) will be working with our customers as well as raw material suppliers to improve and maintain product quality for microlithography manufacturing process. This role also involves working with internal stakeholders as well as raw material management, manufacturing, quality control (QC) and engineering departments to ensure that stringent quality controls to be able to satisfy. The candidate is expected to use solid statistical methods to maintain or improve product quality using FMEA to identify quality risks along with SPC to ensure process control. The candidate is expected to develop hypotheses if troubleshooting is necessary. Based upon those hypotheses, the candidate will work with internal technical peers and our suppliers to design and carry out experiments to determine the validity of different theories, resolve the problem and put containment actions in place. The candidate is capable to understand the ISO9001(IATF16949) process approach to maintain and operate quality management system (QMS)

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and develop RCI and Corrective/Preventive actions for customer quality/performance complaint. (Critical)
  • Ensure that our products and raw material specifications and control limits are established appropriately – incoming QC testing, supplier specification, product and raw material shelf life, etc.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and suppliers to establish & regularly improve process control plans & FMEAs for our products and related raw materials.
  • Respond to out of control and out of specifications raw materials and products, ensuring supplier performs an effective Root Cause Investigation (RCI) and implements Corrective/Preventive actions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of the production and quality process.
  • Prepare customer process change notification (PCN) letter, work with customer to resolve issues identified during their qualification testing.
  • Respond to customer individual requests and “paper audits” about product quality control plans, manufacturing processes, and quality systems – individual requests .
  • Participate in customer and supplier audits.
  • Be internal auditor for ISO9001

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in a technical discipline such as Chemistry or Engineering.
  • 5+ years’ experience working in the semiconductor or semiconductor materials industry in a technical role. (Engineering, R&D, Quality, Fab, Manufacturing etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of raw material and product chemistry along with analytical and functional characterization methods.
  • Strong data analysis skills; experience using statistical tools like JMP, LIMS, MES are strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with customers or suppliers outside DuPont on technical projects such as raw material or product development, improvement projects, or problem resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in Japanese and English.
  • Experienced with Semiconductor industry. (preferred)
  • Master’s or PhD degree in a technical discipline such as Chemistry or Engineering. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience using formal problem solving methodologies such as 8D, Kepner-Tregoe Problem Analysis, QC problem solving story, RCI, 5 why, FMEA, or others. (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Quality management skills such as SPC, FMEA, DOE, Six-sigma, MSA and use of statistical software such as JMP. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated success resolving technical challenges in a time-critical situation. (preferred)
  • ISO9001 internal auditor certification. (preferred)
