Design Intern

At Apiture, our mission is to empower financial institutions to know and serve their clients with the care of a traditional community institution at the scale, speed, and efficiency required in today’s digital world. With hundreds of clients throughout the U.S., we deliver comprehensive online and mobile solutions that support banks and credit unions, ranging from small community financial institutions to new, innovative direct banks.

Summary: As a UX Intern at Apiture, you will work closely with our experienced product designers, product managers and business analysts to support the development of user-centered design solutions. This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn about the UX design process, from research and ideation to prototyping and testing, while contributing to real projects that impact our users.

Location (Wilmington, NC, Austin, TX, Remote):
We have offices in Wilmington, NC and Austin, TX and while some positions are office based, we will also consider remote candidates depending on their time zone.

Responsibilities:

• Update and Maintain Design Systems: Assist our mobile app designer in making updates and improvements to our mobile design system documentation and Figma file. Support our web design system team with documentation and maintenance as needed.
• Conduct Competitive Analysis: Assist in capturing and documenting other digital banking and finance apps for competitive analysis.
• Support Design Projects: Collaborate with designers to create wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes. Contribute ideas and feedback during design reviews and brainstorming sessions. Assist in creating materials to support design’s work (such as sitemaps, presentations, etc.).
• Assist in User Research and Usability Testing: Help prepare for and conduct user research activities, including surveys, interviews, and usability testing.

Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a degree or certification in UX Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
• Experience using Figma. Basic understanding of design principles, user-centered design, and UX methodologies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively.
• Attention to detail with a passion for creating high-quality, user-friendly designs.
• Collaborative attitude and the ability to work well in a team environment.
• A portfolio or examples of previous design work, coursework, or personal projects is a plus.
