Job Overview:

Oliver Wyman Group seeks a motivated Junior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of MERN/MEAN stack technologies and a passion for learning and growth. This role is perfect for someone eager to contribute to projects and expand their technical expertise in a collaborative environment.

This is a hybrid role that requires 2 days per week in our Mexico City office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing software solutions that support Oliver Wyman's strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with a team of engineers to deliver high-quality code and actively participate in code reviews.
• Learn and apply best practices for secure, scalable, and maintainable code.
• Engage in the full software development lifecycle under the guidance of senior team members.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred. A portfolio of completed projects can be considered an alternative to formal education.
• Up to 2 years of experience in software development with exposure to MERN/MEAN Stack technologies.

Technical Skills:

• Strong understanding and working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or TypeScript and frameworks like Node.js, React, Express.js, and Angular.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases
• Basic practical knowledge of version control systems like GitHub.
• Familiarity with software testing methodologies and tools.

Leadership and Communication:

• Ability to take and apply direction and feedback from senior team members.
• Willingness to contribute ideas, share knowledge, and participate in team discussions.
• Developing the ability to articulate technical issues and solutions to peers.
• Contribute to software engineering best practices, knowledge sharing, and standards development.

Skills and Attributes:

• English fluency (spoken & written) required
• Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
• Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to collaborate with others.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work on multiple projects with guidance.
