Central Engineering – Optical PHY (CE-OPHY) team designs high-speed and optical transceivers for communication infrastructure in long-haul, metro and datacenter. We address the bandwidth, capacity and power issues faced by cloud computing, mega data centers that powers the social media giant platforms. Our innovative approaches have resulted in the company’s products being first to market in many of key areas, developing the most advanced chips and subsystems solutions to address the ever-increasing demand of higher data rates driven by video-on demand, gaming and other real time data streams. We are seeking talented individuals to work on solving technical challenges with the most outstanding group of collaborators in the industry.

The Application Engineering team develops solutions for internal and external high-speed Serialize-Deserialize interfaces user-end including providing functions for Ethernet, PCIe and other communication standards. We are seeking for engineering position related to mixed-signal applications with PHY SerDes.

What You Can Expect

As an intern for the Application Engineer team in Pavia, Italy, you will be part of a world-class team providing support for industry-leading networking Ethernet products. You will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment with teams from analog, software, firmware, and hardware developers. As a member of the Central Engineering System team, you will be involved in testing and prototyping process activities using advanced software automation and test equipment.

You will support the team in analyzing, bringing up, debugging, and characterizing silicon-level Marvell’s internal IPs, such as High-Speed SerDes, PLL/DLL, and ADC for various Marvell products. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Execute bench level validation test plans, develop tests for FW candidate release regression, and develop a script in Python to automate testing.
• Generate an appropriate test report.
• Provide technical support to the team to support customers in resolving all technical issues and furnishing collateral documentation related to technical matters.

What We're Looking For

• Final-year Master’s student in Electronic Engineering or related fields OR a recent Master’s graduate.
• Experience in Python, C/C++, MATLAB, or equivalent programming languages.
• Familiarity with FPGA design flows is a plus.
• Familiarity with high-bandwidth oscilloscopes and BERTs is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Ability to commute to Pavia a few days per week (hybrid work model).
• Eligible to work in the country of hire without restrictions.
