The YouVersion Quality Engineer is responsible for executing manual and automated tests to ensure that software meets quality standards and performs as expected. This role involves working with development teams to understand feature requirements, designing test cases, and executing tests to validate functionality and performance. The Quality Engineer contributes to maintaining and improving automated test suites while collaborating with the QA team to identify and resolve issues. The position focuses on ensuring comprehensive test coverage, documenting results, and supporting the team’s quality efforts as products progress through the development lifecycle. The Quality Engineer utilizes their skills to deliver technical outcomes that align with the direction of their team to further Life.Church’s mission and to reach people for Christ.

What You'll Do

  • Design, write, and execute manual and automated tests to validate software quality.
  • Work with the development team to understand feature requirements and design effective test cases.
  • Collaborate with team members to align tasks with team goals, ensuring that work delivered is valuable and aligned with the project's objectives.
  • Support in QE processes, taking initiative while collaborating closely with senior engineers and project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to maintaining and executing automated test scripts for functional, performance, and security testing.
  • Assist in creating test plans for new features or products, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
  • Execute regression testing for new product releases and bug fixes.
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Provide input on QE processes and tools, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Help analyze and triage issues found during testing, working with the development team to debug and resolve problems.
  • Contribute to the documentation of test results and the preparation of reports for the broader team.
  • Continuously learn and adopt new testing tools, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Contribute to the development of automated testing strategies and frameworks under the guidance of senior QE engineers.
  • Track and report test results, contributing to discussions on how to improve processes and reduce defects.
  • Support the team in developing a culture of quality by advocating for robust testing practices.

Skills Needed to Succeed

  • Adaptability to learn new tools, technologies, and trends in quality engineering.
  • Attention to detail and eagerness to grow in the role, with the ability to contribute to test processes and strategies under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Ability to self-motivate, make independent decisions, and solve problems with innovation.
  • Effective at multi-tasking and time management to meet strict deadlines while remaining flexible and open to change.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to clearly explain complicated processes and foster partnerships.
  • Effective at process and organizational management to coordinate, structure, and provide vision to projects.
  • Strong leadership skills and understanding of developing and guiding others.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in quality engineering, software testing, or a similar role.
  • Basic knowledge of QE methodologies and exposure to automation frameworks and tools (e.g., TestSigma, Selenium, Appium, JUnit, TestNG).
  • Experience writing testable code and contributing to scalable automation suites, while continuing to learn best practices.
