Role

Reporting to the Commercial & Secure UK Operations Team Lead, major duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide Level 3 tier support as part of the SNOC (Secure Network Operations Team), performing 5 x 8 hour rotational shifts each week within the 15hr (07:00-22:00) x 7days operational hours
  • Maintaining and implementing changes in New Era Technology’s customer Global Video Collaboration (GVC) Platforms
  • Provide 3rd line and backup support and troubleshooting on Linux and Windows Servers and other associated IT hardware related to the GVC platform
  • Troubleshoot and provide root cause of Video related issues including through the underlying network infrastructure and tools
  • Work with the Infrastructure Services Team to define and refine equipment monitoring and integration using our NMS, Proactive Monitoring, Logging, and tool suite
  • With your L3 piers foster an environment where the L2 Technicians are able to grow their level of understanding, competency and confidence
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and make constructive suggestions for change
  • Research, recommend and implement ways to improve the deployment of infrastructure, OS's and applications using modern orchestration tools in major cloud environments
  • Participate in design, architecture and engineering discussions
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Required skills and experience:

  • Strong Pexip background with extensive experience with Pexip Infinity
  • Experience with Pexip, HP and Cisco video conferencing hardware and software
  • SIP and H.323 Dial Plans
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware / Veeam / Proxmox / KVM)
  • Experience with cloud environments (GCP / Azure / AWS)
  • Experience with automation tools (Kubernetes / Docker / Packer / Ansible / Terraform / GitLab)
  • Experience with the build and use of network and infrastructure monitoring technologies
  • At least 5 years' experience in Linux Systems Administration in a highly available environment (Debian)
  • IP Networking skills, including but not limited to, VLAN planning, configuration of switches, firewalls, and routers (Cisco / VPN / BGP / OSPF / MPLS / SNMP)
  • Troubleshooting networks issues (tcpdump / Wireshark)
  • Scripting capabilities (SH / Bash / Python / Perl)
  • Configuration of common services (DNS / Apache / NGINX / Postfix / Squid / SSH / iptables)
  • Understanding of clustering services, enabling High Availability failover
  • Experience with enterprise hardware and management tools
  • Experience working within a strict Change Management process, creating MoPs and LWIs
  • Able to commute periodically and on an emergency basis to datacentres in Berkshire, Wiltshire and North West London
  • Must be UK resident for over 5 years with SC level clearance or willing to obtain SC clearance
