We are currently seeking a Transportation Engineer for the Domestic Division in our headquarters office in Rockville, Maryland. As Transportation Engineer, you will actively participate in and work with drafting and road projects. This is a senior-level engineer position responsible for developing specs and plans for major projects and doing cost estimates for major roads and highways, amongst other related duties as required.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare the following roadway/highway design work local standards: horizontal and vertical alignment, roadway sections, intersection layout, sight distance determination, interchange layout, right of way, and construction plans.
  • Prepare the following elements of various sizes of contract plans, specifications, and estimates: roadway sections, alignment/right of way plans, site preparation plans, roadway profiles, and maintenance of traffic plans.
  • Prepare cost estimates using MS Excel and the Estimator software and utilizing the RS Means database and other client-required software.
  • Draft priced technical proposals per the Request for Proposal (RFP) or Proposed Change Orders (PCO) as they arise.
  • Manage junior and mid-level engineers and provide guidance and technical assistance as necessary.
  • Strong capability with Specifications writing and drafting for Montgomery and Prince George’s County, MD, and District of Columbia, DOTs
  • Other duties as needed.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in the State of Maryland (MD).
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) license a plus
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D / OpenRoad / InRoad / Microstation / Bluebeam / Revit / MS Office
  • Must be familiar with performing traffic analysis using synchro modeling
  • Strong project management skills and leadership capability including tracking project budget and internal workload management
