This an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager/Process Engineer to support Cigna Medicare Advantage Clinical Quality Strategy & Solutions (CQSS) teams. Project assignments will be diverse, vary in complexity, and span multiple business areas.

Job Description Summary

Reporting to the senior manager of Clinical Optimization, the candidate filling this role will lead mid-sized time-limited projects or components of larger projects and direct one or more teams of business consultants involved in the evaluation or development of new procedures/processes/or policy solutions to address highly complex business needs. This role includes determining requirements, planning projects, establishing priorities and monitoring progress as well as assessing impact and implications from a cost, efficiency, contractual, legal and/or regulatory standpoint. The candidate will be able to identify and expose business opportunities and implications of re-engineering projects, including facilitating process design changes and executing process improvement initiatives. Advises top management on significant Business Project Management matters, often requiring coordination between organizations.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead projects and/or process improvement initiatives from end to end using best practices and disciplines, driving implementation in partnership with cross-organizational teams. Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the project team and across matrixed areas.

  • Design new and improved business processes that align with enterprise strategies and business goals
  • Lead or support process engineering and analysis efforts to design new and improved business processes which align with enterprise strategies and business goals
  • Establish credibility and comfort with key stakeholders and customers by understanding business needs and clearly articulating vision, approach, assessment results and execution strategies
  • Coordinate and facilitate effective group meetings to inform, drive accountability, and execute on milestones
  • Provide accurate and insightful assessments of current process performance including risks with actions to mitigate and/ or eliminate
  • Analyze and measure the effectiveness of existing business processes and develop sustainable, repeatable and quantifiable business process improvements.
  • Provide measurement support (i.e. development, reporting, validation and improvement).
  • Ability to create and implement improvement plans including contingency plans for problems that arise
  • Assess quantitative and qualitative benefits a business area can achieve by moving from the current state to an improved future state
  • Demonstrate results which may include cost-savings, quality improvements and customer experience impacts
  • Demonstrate consistent and effective use of six sigma or similar DMAIC process engineer tools throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Demonstrate consistent and effective use of project management tools throughout the project lifecycle

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ability to engage and influence matrixed teams to prioritize optimization efforts
  • Able to remove barriers without damaging professional relationships; always maintain positive and productive working relationships
  • Ability to create and implement contingency plans and solutions for problems that arise
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including adjusting messaging for varied audiences
  • Continually improve skills and competencies by proactively participating in various internal and external training opportunities and stretch assignments
  • Experience translating process changes into a complete implementation strategy including all aspects of change management and reinforcement
  • Knowledgeable in advanced quality methods/ tools and a wide range of group decision making tools/ facilitation techniques
  • Proficient in developing cross organizational value streams, end to end workflows, scorecards and control mechanisms
  • Current in global best practices related to process engineering
  • Strong business acumen, with proven ability to leverage knowledge base to quickly come up to speed in new business areas and new types of projects
  • Individual thinker with the ability to identify and drive new uncharted solutions
  • Self-directed and capable of leading a team of professionals across multiple business areas
  • Ability and willingness to share knowledge and coach individuals with varying levels of experience
  • Positive role model with the ability to work independently and in conjunction with co-workers of all levels
  • Flexibility to strategically change course based on business needs
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills with the ability to lead change
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail oriented, with proven time management and organization skills
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience in a healthcare environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management or process design
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or other Process Improvement certification highly preferred
  • Project Management certification preferred
  • Process mapping experience in Visio and/or Blueworks
  • Medicare Advantage experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Wrike or other task organization tools

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 106,100 - 176,900 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
