Chevron is accepting online applications for the Project Engineer- Mechanical position through October 11th, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. (CDT).

Provides project engineering and management for small to medium capital projects.

Project engineer with Mechanical background to support the Pascagoula Refinery Capital Projects. This position is specific to Process Safety Management related projects, such as, the Relief program and Optimization of Automated Safety Instrumented Systems (OASIS) program.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Mechanical scope package and engineering work order package creation/review
    • Able to know industry standards and requirements and apply those to the engineering packages. Provide oversight to ensure mechanical engineering design is in compliance with various ASME, API codes, and Chevron Engineering Standards
  • Project Engineering skillsets for phase gated capital projects: Engineering Project Management, Management of Change (MOC), Process Safety Information, Design Management, FE Cost Engineering, Financial Acumen, Process Safety in Design, Process Safety Information, Quality Assurance, Technical codes and standards, and Systems Completion.
    • Help project manager through execution of project through all project phases. Lead activities for project manager or be assigned individual projects.
  • Provides requested technical advice and recommendations to project teams within the required time frames.
  • Interface with various refinery groups, SMEs, and contractors to resolve issues/challenges
  • Networks with subject matter experts in other facilities to leverage shared expertise.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a strong work experience that demonstrates technical knowledge in current role in a refinery environment.
  • A minimum of 5 plus years of refining experience or related industry
  • Able to second level review engineer scope of work package and work orders for technical accuracy. Current work experience demonstrates this ability.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, strong ability to work with refinery groups and cross functional teams, able to communicate technical ideas to a wide range of groups within refinery.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal direct supervision.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Basic understanding of how equipment functions in the field and overall plant operation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechanical pipe design experience, strong in engineering standards and industry standards for refining environment
  • IMPACT or turn around experience – able to work a shut down and understanding of the Impact process and integrating with capital projects.
  • Able to 2nd level engineering work orders or engineering work packages
  • Experience with vessel modifications
  • Experience with refinery Safety Instrumented Systems and Relief systems projects

Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
