Our universal delivery strategy utilizes a scalable silicon chip architecture to deliver molecular cargo into cells ex vivo at high throughput with exceptional yield. This novel approach enables the parallel engineering of cells for direct applications in precision medicine, synthetic biology, and fundamental science.

We are looking for a Scientist to join us and have an impact in the following ways:

This is a new position within our growing biology team that will play a crucial role in helping us to develop our cell engineering platform. The individual in this role will be responsible for applying their knowledge and expertise in working with gene editing to the design and execution of research projects. Additionally, this individual will be working within a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative team of engineers and scientists, where their expertise will be instrumental in providing feedback on how to best design and utilize our ex vivo delivery system.

This is an on-site role, based in Alameda, CA

Within 1 month, you will:

• Learn about our organization’s mission, vision, and values
• Learn about your role and department
• Meet your colleagues and collaborators
• Learn about your team’s Objectives and Key Results for the year
• Integrate into the Mekonos team and learn about our unique technology

Within 2 months, you will:

• Have a conversation with your manager about how you can contribute to your teams’ goals
• Complete mandatory safety trainings
• Complete all learning modules of our Onboarding playbook
• Contribute to existing/ongoing research projects
• Become comfortable with handling all relevant cell types to Mekonos

Within 3 months, you will:

• Start designing research projects
• Start utilizing our technology to begin cell engineering experiments
• Contribute with project progression

Within 4-6 months, you will:

• Train other team members on working with gene editing tools
• Provide feedback on how to improve our products in cross-functional meetings
• Identify and begin to develop protocols for unique applications of our technology

What you have accomplished:

• B.S. with 6+ years, M.S. with 4+ years industry experience or a Ph.D. in molecular cell biology, biochemistry, or a related field
• Expertise in working with gene editing tools (CRISPR, transposons, base editors)
• Experience in working with sensitive cell types (primary cells, stem cells)
• A strong understanding of assay development and biological analysis techniques, including flow cytometry
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for cross-disciplinary collaboration

Compensation:

For this role, the base salary is $130,000 USD, along with:
