As a Technical Design Intern you’ll be responsible for design and propose lighting system installations of high-value and/or high complexity in North America region. Additionally, as part of the Systems Team you will collaborate with cross functional Signify team members in the advancement of tailored solutions.

What you’ll do

Participate in customer projects through all phases from design to proposal through completion. You will be primarily involved in design applications/solutions and assist in proposal development of high-value/high-complexity projects under direct supervision.

  • Develop and design lighting control systems for interior, site and area, exterior and roadway applications. Review/verify system design, schematics, and drawings.
  • Develop technical expertise to support sales colleagues on new opportunities.
  • Work with internal/external Stakeholders to support the creation of proposals and quotations.
  • Aid in the development of project-specific drawings to support commissioning and installation.
  • Routinely reviewing and updating technical documentation for the development of Proposals and/or process-improvement projects.

Your qualifications

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture or similar technical discipline.
  • Ability to interpret architectural/electrical drawings.
  • AutoCAD skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent organization and communication skills to successfully build and maintain relationships with customers, designers, and engineers.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and in team-based environments as required.

Nice to have

  • 3d modeling software experience. e.g. Sketchup, Rhino, 3dsmax, Lumion
  • Hand sketching ability is a plus.
