The Senior IT Administrator will play an important role in overseeing various technical administrative responsibilities within the organization. This position will be primarily responsible for managing on-site data center technical operations, such as circuits, wiring, device installations, and physical connectivity, while also coordinating physical support initiatives. This role will manage telecommunications vendor relationships and project coordination with internal teams, including data circuit orders, maintenance, inventory, and implementation. Additionally, this role will be responsible for managing hands-on network and infrastructure tasks as well as related management, monitoring, and support tasks. The Senior IT Administrator will address technical needs and maintain vigilance over system availability through monitoring and alerting tools. Furthermore, this role will involve reviewing and maintaining cost-allocation of budget items, as well as coordinating the cost-allocation review process to optimize resource allocation and ensure efficient IT operations. The candidate filling this role will function as an escalation path for support of technology-related issues and will support the Infrastructure Services team responsibilities. This is an on-site position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Data Center Technical Operations: Coordinate and execute activities related to data center operations, including wiring, device installation, and managing physical connectivity to support the organization's IT infrastructure.
  • Data Circuit Management: Oversee the entire lifecycle of data circuits, from ordering and setup to ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting, ensuring optimal performance.
  • On-Site Technical Support: Address escalated on-site technical requirements, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical assistance as needed to maintain uninterrupted IT services.
  • System Availability Monitoring: Manage and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to track and ensure the availability and performance of critical systems, promptly addressing and/or escalating any issues that may arise.
  • Backup and Recovery: Review server and data backup systems. Manage backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical information in case of data loss or system failures. Coordinate backup and recovery configurations to support ongoing business requirements.
  • Software Updates and Patch Management: Support and contribute to patch management efforts to ensure network equipment and software are up-to-date with the latest patches and updates to address security vulnerabilities and enhance performance.
  • Vendor Relationships: Liaise with network service providers and technology vendors to ensure service quality and resolve any service-related issues.
  • User Support: Act as an escalation path for technical support to end-users, addressing network-related concerns and troubleshooting connectivity problems.
  • Network Policies and Procedures: Support and contribute to network policy and procedure creating and maintenance efforts to ensure compliance with security standards and overall best practices.
  • Network Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and inventory.
  • Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions and raise awareness among employees about network security and best practices to reduce security risks.
  • Other Duties as assigned: Perform other required server, network, application support tasks as required or requested by the business

Requirements

  • 10 years experience working in an advanced customer-service management or support role
  • Experience with the Data Circuit / ISP Contracts and Lifecycle Management
  • Knowledge of and experience supporting data center, server room, network closet, operations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Active Directory, MS Exchange Server, MS SQL Server
  • Knowledge of ITSM Processes & Service Desk Tools
  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience
  • Excellent customer service, written and oral communication skills
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn quickly, absorb and understand new things quickly
  • Ability to understand and follow documentation, repeat existing processes and procedures
  • Ability to create documentation of new processes and procedures
  • Experience with remote support software, such as LogMeIn and GoToAssist
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and individually with minimal supervision
