Activities

  • Assumes part owner duties for new designs of engine hardware fixtures and tooling of complex and critical parts. All duties shall be documented and presented to senior group members for review and approval.
  • Owns technical aspects of assigned components and or processes from initial concept through all manufacturing stages.
  • Collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment to develop component designs and repairs; which meet site, Chromalloy and customer requirements for cost, performance, and durability.
  • Assist in making technical decisions on product/process design and provide definition to the team to ensure mutual success.
  • Work in manufacturing, lab, and field environments. Occasional travel required.
  • Conduct design and analysis of new and repaired tooling, with special emphasis on Design for Manufacture and operator interaction.
  • Perform complete reverse engineering by visual, dimensional/inspections on gas turbine components as necessary and be involved with metallurgical, mechanical property, modal and airflow evaluations.
  • Make technical decisions on tooling design based on customer requirements and specifications.
  • Support all aspects of manufacturing for turbine components.
  • Review work done by lower-level engineers.
  • Provide input into program technical goals and objectives.
  • Generate or provide input into the creation of the program schedule and budget.
  • Sets technical priorities and generates solutions for competing interests.
  • Serve as a Mentor for newer engineers.
  • Creation of CAD models and drawings in NX for tooling components and assemblies.
  • Development, support, and validation of CNC generated programs for use in tooling development and production.
  • Provide cost analysis of tooling fabrication.
  • Maintain and manage responsible project schedules.
  • Prepare and present presentations of work to external and internal customers.

Requirements

Requirements

  • BS or MS Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace)
  • 1-3 years of experience in the Aerospace or Industrial gas turbine engine manufacturing design and reverse Engineering.
  • Strong CAD/CAM background with tooling development focus, preferably NX.
  • CNC Manufacturing experience utilizing NX/MAster CAM.
  • Knowledge of gas turbine manufacturing processes (casting, machining, ...etc.) and 3D CAD modeling,
  • Knowledge of various measuring techniques including CMM, optical scanning, gages, ... etc. and their use in developing designs.
  • Understanding of all aspects of turbine component manufacturing (casting, machining, ...etc.) and inspections.
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
  • Strong understanding of proper CAD print and model creation. Capable of being self-sufficient in CAD duties with highly complex jobs.
  • Has Knowledge with 3D scanning software and reverse engineering.
  • Understanding Industry standards to be able to understand FAA requirements and guidelines.
  • Well versed in Additive Manufacturing capabilities and use cases specifically in a tooling environment.
  • Working knowledge of program management tools and skill set.
  • Thoughtful and effective communications skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
