The Messaging Engineer will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team of experienced IT professionals in a global multi-platform environment consisting of on-premise and cloud based email and collaboration technologies. The Messaging Engineer will provide day to day hands-on management and administration of the messaging & collaboration technologies, be accountable for the reliability and availability of these services, coordinate and manage projects, and provide 24/7 3rd level escalation support for related incidents.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong focus on customer service and a passion for working with and promoting collaborative business solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Build a strong internal customer experience through webinars, training, and regular communication. Partner with vendors to stay up to date on roadmaps and request feature enhancements based on feedback from users.
  • Improve processes through automation and documentation.
  • Continually look for opportunities to modernize the infrastructure through simplification and optimization. Embrace and advocate for a cloud first approach.
  • Partner with IT Security & Governance to protect the environment. Implement best practices for services and continually evaluate our security posture to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • “Keep the Business Running” by providing 24/7 3rd level escalation support, troubleshooting, incident management, and communications with IT and business stakeholders.
  • Administer the messaging & collaboration platforms and services.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and make technology lifecycle recommendations, including technology risk assessment, refresh, migration, and retirement.
  • Lead messaging & collaboration projects, including upgrades, migrations, and technology refresh.
  • Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with internal and external business and IT strategic partners.
  • Help ensure the messaging & collaboration technologies and services are aligned with RRD business direction, IT management goals, and IT Security & Governance policies.

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • 2+ years experience supporting messaging & collaboration in large multinational, multi-platform environments.
  • Experience managing a Google Workspace tenant.
  • Strong working knowledge of Google services including but not limited to Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Meet, and Chat.
  • Experience with Google’s Advanced GAM scripting language is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of SMTP mail routing infrastructure.
  • Experience with Postfix and/or Momentum (Sparkpost) a plus.
  • Experience with Office 365, Smartsheet, Dropbox, and Box a plus.
  • Proven abilities in systems administration and incident management.
  • Experience with messaging platform upgrades, migrations and consolidations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
