About the role:
We are seeking an experienced senior scientist with a proven track record in systems biology and mechanistic modeling, who can contribute to our mission to leverage large scale biological data to identify the right patient for a given drug.
As the systems biology senior scientist, working within the Biomedical team, you will play a key role in building up Owkin’s capabilities in knowledge-driven mechanistic modeling. This work will aim to position therapeutic targets within a specific molecular context in order to model, in silico, the context dependencies underlying biological response to a given drug. Embracing the challenge of developing models integrating multiple scales (patient population, tissue, cell, pathway) for multiple diseases (especially Oncology and Inflammatory disorders), you will have the opportunity to dramatically impact the way indication and patient subgroups are selected for Owkin’s internal therapeutic pipeline. Working in close collaboration with our R&D Data Science department and biomedical experimental team, you’ll seek to integrate results coming from multimodal, large-scale analysis and to validate drug response predictions in the wet lab.
The ideal person for this role has a deep expertise in computational mechanistic models and an excellent background in biology, especially in regulatory pathways involved in immunology and oncology.
In particular, you will:
- Design innovative multiscale predictive mechanistic models in several oncology indications for 1 internal clinical asset using data from literature and data generated in our Wet-Lab
- Design connectivity maps leveraging our spatial transcriptomic data
- Participate to cross functional therapeutic project core-teams to build models guiding indication, biomarkers, and combination selection strategies
- Communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders in the form of presentations and reports
About you
Required qualifications / experience:
- Ph.D in systems biology/in silico modeling (preferable) or computational biology or bioinformatics, along with professional experience in the field of computational/systems biology in oncology therapeutic areas.
- Demonstrated experience in building large in silico models to study complex multiscale networks and regulatory pathways involved in human disease (e.g. differential equations, agent-based models, Boolean models etc.)
- Expertise in biological pathway analysis and excellent understanding of biology literature in cancer and immunology
- Bring expertise in computational tools for pathway mapping, analyze intercellular communication, build predictive mechanistic models across multiple scales
Preferred qualifications/bonus:
- Able in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work in cross-functional teams with various backgrounds and levels in biology, medicine, drug development, data science
- #LI-CJ1
