About the role

In the role of the Creative Director, you’ll be responsible for building the Ka’Chava brand through incredible creative work that stands out and gets noticed. From TV ads to CRM, website to in-store, you’ll make sure everything Ka’Chava says and does is distinctive, exciting and delivers on the brand’s Playbook. Internally, you’ll lead and inspire the internal team of ten creatives, showing them what good looks like, elevating their work and creating a culture where ideas are shared and the work gets better and better.

Roles and responsibilities...

  • Create superb creative work. Raise the standards of ideas, concepts, art direction and copywriting across your team and contribute to these ideas yourself.
  • Make the work consistent. Collaborate with the heads of departments to bring their efforts together under your creative guidance, so everything Ka’Chava makes feels connected and from the same place.
  • Improve the way the department works: Get the brilliant basics of ways of working in place. Work with our head of production to introduce and champion the expected standards and processes in terms of brief receiving, brief writing, presenting work in clear well-explained decks, giving and receiving feedback in reviews, and clear ownership of jobs by stakeholders from start to finish.
  • Inspire and develop your team: Help your people realize the potential of their work with clear creative direction that takes their efforts and shows them how to make their work even better. Arrive with a vision for how to turn a collection of individuals into a department that’s excited about making creative work and sharing ideas.
  • Work with agencies and partners: Ka’Chava has a creative paid media agency and a number of other external providers. You’ll oversee their output, holding them to account to the standards of the brand and looking for any opportunities to make the work better.
  • Show what good looks like: Set the standard for clear, compelling communication across the business. People should look at how well you communicate and think they need to do better,
  • Build your department: As the business grows, bring in exceptional new people to add to the team.Build strong relationships: Become a vital part of the Ka’Chava leadership team. Along with exceptional creative skills, you’ll build trust and rapport with the founder and all the key stakeholders.

  • Better work. Anyone looking at the output from Ka’Chava should be able to see the moment you joined by the sudden and consistent improvement in quality.
  • A happy team. They have the clarity they need to make good work and are inspired by the culture you’ve started to share ideas.
  • Smoother process. From brief to output, people know who owns and runs a project and what success looks like.
  • You’re enjoying yourself.

Success in 2 years looks like:

  • Great creative work has driven growth for Ka’Chava.
  • The brand is distinctive and talked about.
  • Your friends are jealous of the work you’re making.
  • Your team (now with some new joiners on board) are excited and inspired to work with you.
  • You’re still enjoying yourself

About you

Experience you have…

  • 10+ years’ experience in advertising and marketing with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing a team of junior creatives.
  • Experience working for a health and wellness brand (in-house or at an agency). Or experience working in a similar sector where you can show the relevance.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing incredible creative work that stands out and gets people talking.
  • Retail and packaging experience.
  • Experience creating joined-up campaigns across multiple channels - Advertising, CRM, Organic and Paid Social, PR, Events, Websites. You must be able to join the dots across all of them.
  • An understanding of (or very clear willingness to learn about) the bigger picture and pressures that come with working in a DTC business - including working with regulatory, understanding the basics of customer acquisition costs, supply chain 101. You don’t create in a vacuum.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred locations: FL, GA, MA, CO, NY, WA, OR, TX, WV, NV, NH, and OH

Compensation: $162,300 – $196,200
