The IT Officer role, specialised in CI/CD, DevOps practices, and AWS cloud infrastructure, is pivotal in steering the organisation's IT strategy towards innovation, efficiency, and agility. This position involves a comprehensive blend of responsibilities aimed at enhancing the software development lifecycle, optimising IT operations, and leveraging cloud technologies for scalable and resilient infrastructure.

What you’ll be doing

  • Cloud Infrastructure Management (AWS):
    • Managing and optimising AWS cloud resources, including compute instances (EC2), storage services (S3, EBS, etc.), and databases (RDS, DynamoDB) to ensure scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
    • Leveraging AWS managed services and tools for monitoring, security, and compliance to maintain the health and security of the cloud environment.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Management:
    • Designing, setting up, and maintaining Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate the software development and deployment process.
    • Collaborating with development teams to integrate code into a shared repository frequently, facilitating automated builds and tests, thereby reducing integration issues and improving software quality.
  • DevOps Practices Implementation:
    • Implementing and promoting DevOps culture and practices within the organisation to enhance collaboration between development, operations, and other stakeholders.
    • Automating the IT infrastructure provisioning and deployment process to increase efficiency, reduce manual errors, and speed up the delivery of applications.
  • Security and Compliance in the Cloud:
    • Implementing and managing security policies and practices in the cloud environment, including identity and access management (IAM), network security, and encryption, in compliance with AWS best practices and regulatory requirements.
    • Utilising AWS tools and services for security monitoring, threat detection, and compliance auditing to protect sensitive data and resources.
  • Disaster Recovery and High Availability:
    • Designing and implementing disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) strategies on AWS, leveraging services like Amazon RDS Multi-AZ deployments, Amazon Route 53, and AWS Auto Scaling to ensure business continuity.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimisation:
    • Utilising AWS monitoring tools like Amazon CloudWatch, CloudTrail, SecurityHub, and third-party solutions to monitor application and infrastructure performance like Zabbix, OpenSearch, Splunk.
  • Data Security and Backup:
    • Implementing and managing security solutions to protect systems and data from cyber threats, including viruses, malware, and breaches.
    • Ensuring regular backups of organisational data are performed and tested for recovery in case of data loss.

About you, you have

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or relevant Courses and Training
  • Cloud Platforms: Proficient knowledge of AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, IAM, VPC) is essential. Familiarity with other cloud services (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform) can be a plus.
  • CI/CD and DevOps Tools: Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, CircleCI). Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies is also important.
  • Programming and Scripting: Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (Python, Bash) is necessary for automation and integration tasks.
  • Networking and Security: Understanding NIST framework and CIA model
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • English Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in IT, implementing CI/CD pipelines, managing cloud infrastructure, and applying DevOps practices.
