The Candidate:

As a Metadata Analyst at Clarion Events, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the organisation's data management capabilities. Reporting directly to the Data Governance Manager, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive metadata schemas and standards that underpin our data governance framework. Your work will ensure the accuracy, consistency, and discoverability of data across all content types, directly contributing to the effectiveness of our data-driven decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, validate, and maintain metadata for various types of content.
  • Develop and implement metadata schemas, taxonomies, and standards to ensure consistency and accuracy across all data sources.
  • Conduct data quality assessments and identify opportunities for improvement in metadata accuracy, completeness, and relevance.
  • Monitor and track metadata usage and provide insights to improve content discoverability and user experience.
  • Perform data mapping and transformation activities to support integration with other systems and applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in metadata management and information architecture.
  • Serve as a champion for data governance practices within the organization, aligning metadata management efforts with broader data governance policies and standards.
  • Actively engage with stakeholders to understand their data requirements and ensure that metadata solutions meet their needs, including conducting workshops and training sessions.
  • Continuously seek out new technologies and methodologies to innovate and optimize metadata management processes.
  • Lead and participate in metadata management projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and meeting quality standards.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours:

  • Proven experience in metadata management or information architecture with certification in metadata management or related field.
  • Proficiency in metadata standards (e.g., Dublin Core, IPTC, MODS) and familiarity with metadata management tools or platforms.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based metadata management solutions and services (Azure).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, PowerBI, and experience with advanced data manipulation and analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, Apache Spark).
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Innovative thinking with a proactive approach to identifying and solving metadata management challenges.
  • Knowledge of data governance principles and practices.
  • Industry-specific knowledge (e.g., healthcare, finance, media), including understanding of relevant data standards and regulations (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.).
