ABOUT THE ROLE

You will be a DataOps Lead Engineer - you will be responsible for building enterprise-grade solutions for our Data Engineers. You will interact with stakeholders across different domain areas, dealing with technical challenges and ensuring that the provided services are scalable, sustainable, and loved by our Data Engineering community. In addition to being a team player, you will maintain a laser focus on delivery and maximizing value. You will be instrumental in driving the success of our data automation and orchestration technology stacks, and your contributions will be critical to the success of the organization.

What you’ll do

• Design and develop the Workflow Orchestration Platform based on cutting-edge cloud technologies such as AWS, ensuring that it is robust, scalable, highly available, and secure.
• Integrate the platform with other tools and technologies used by the Data Engineering community of Astrazeneca.
• Provide subject matter expertise (SME) support to users of the platform, helping them troubleshoot issues and optimize their use of the platform.
• Apply agile principles to the development and maintenance of the platform, finding the right balance between iterating fast and creating solutions that meet the needs of users and the organization.
• Work closely with the DataOps team to ensure that the solution fits into the larger picture of Data Availability at Astrazeneca.
• Define and manage the roadmap for the platform, ensuring that it evolves to meet user needs and incorporates best practices for workflow orchestration and data management.
• Ensure that the platform is cost-effective and provides measurable business value, and define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track its success.

HIGHLIGHT THE SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES NEEDED

We consider individuals in this role to be our top tier Engineers; this means you need to be capable of working in multiple spaces and are likely to be one of the most experienced and skilled engineer on the team. You will raise expectations within the whole team, solve complex technical problems and work alongside complementary delivery platforms.

You should apply if:

• You have a minimun of 10 years of experience in software engineering, with exposure to Data and Analytics projects.
• You have strong AWS architecture skills, including experience with services such as EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, CFT, and Route53, and a good understanding of NACLs, security groups, and VPC endpoints. Exposure to EKS and MWAA would be a plus.
• You have strong programming skills, preferably in Python.
• You have experience in working using Agile/Scrum methodology.
• You have strong expertise in Linux and shell scripting.
• You have very good knowledge of DevOps tools such as Jenkins and Ansible.
• You have good exposure to code versioning tools such as Github and Bitbucket.
• You have good exposure to project management tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
• You have experience working collaboratively with other teams to achieve goals on a timely basis.
• You have a good understanding of REST APIs and how they can be used to build scalable and resilient systems.
• You have a very good understanding of database design principles, including 3rd and 5th normal forms, as well as star schemas for data warehousing.
• You have good skills in writing SQL scripts, with exposure to technologies such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• You have exposure to working in a complex environment, with teams spread out in different locations.
• You possess critical thinking skills and can challenge solutions.You are proactive in dealing with unexpected blockers and issues.
