The Senior Software Engineer in the Global Data Platforms Engineering team will join a cadre of brilliant, friendly, and energetic engineers, developers, QA engineers, and project managers dedicated to delivering best-in-class solutions to our customers. As part of the Prime team, you’ll:

  • Cloud Engineering and Support: The Senior GCP Cloud Engineer will support engineering tasks for multiple GCP cloud applications, covering both migration projects and maintenance of applications already migrated to and operational within GCP. - 30%

  • Solution Deployment: Will plan, configure, and deploy cloud solutions in GCP, ensuring optimal integration and efficiency. - 15%

  • Automation and Optimization: Responsible for automating the build and configuration of IaaS & PaaS based solutions in Google Cloud Platform and AWS, aiming for efficiency and scalability. - 20%

  • Release and Change Management: Will support Release, Incident, and Change management for our GCP applications, including managing DevOps and CI/CD pipeline work to ensure smooth deployment and operations. - 15%

  • Strategic Evaluation: Evaluates and recommends suitable engineering strategies for onboarding greenfield and brownfield applications to GCP, focusing on optimizing them for performance and cost over time. - 10%

  • Innovation and Collaboration: Will contribute ideas and insights to develop new technologies, proofs of concept, best practices, or procedures that are both innovative and practical. Also expected to display excellent communication and interactive skills with teams across geographies, and the flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team. - 10%

About you:

  • Experience and Education: A minimum of 6+ years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.

  • Cloud Platform Expertise: At least 2+ years of working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and 6+ years in the cloud domain. Experience hosting applications on GCP using Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Kubernetes Engine, Composer, Cloud Storage is essential.

  • Technical Skills: A good understanding of cloud design considerations and their impact on pricing, proficiency in a modern scripting language (preferably Python and Java) for build automation, and experience with Big Data on GCP and AWS. Must have a good understanding of Unix/Linux networking and operating systems.

  • Container and CI/CD Technology: Prior experience with Docker/Kubernetes, version control systems (e.g. BitBucket, GitHub), CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Harness), and monitoring tools (e.g., NewRelic, Splunk).

  • Infrastructure Management: Experience with infrastructure configuration management tools such as Terraform, SaltStack, and expertise in networking principles, VPC, Load Balancer, Cloud DNS, Cloud CDN, Google Stackdriver.

  • Certifications and Specializations: Advanced level certifications in public Cloud (AWS/GCP) are preferable. Certifications in DevOps, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Big Data, and other related areas are highly desirable.

  • Strategic Planning and Development: Should have prior experience in developing effort estimates, project plans, budget estimates, and roadmaps. Experience working with high-volume complex data platforms, Data Management areas (e.g., data ingestion, transformation, quality, processing, delivery, security), and familiarity with Snowflake and Java-heavy application landscapes would be beneficial.
