As a Lawyer at PeopleCert, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with all aspects of corporate, commercial and employment law, as well as regulations and policies relevant to our business across the organisation. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with stakeholders in order to ensure legal conformity and minimise the probability of exposure to legal risks. As a Lawyer your tasks will include the following:

  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts and NDAs with our broad range of suppliers and business partners in coordination with the business and procurement teams as appropriate, and prepare templates as applicable.
  • Offer counsel on a variety of legal issues concerning corporate, commercial and employment matters in a concise, accurate and business-relevant way, and serve as a resource across the organisation, answering questions and providing guidance on relevant matters.
  • Assist in the corporate housekeeping and compliance with corporate governance requirements across the organisation.
  • Review and ensure all legal documentation (including terms and conditions) is up to date and reflective of business operations, and compliant with relevant laws.
  • Research and anticipate legal issues that could impact the organisation to ensure compliance and provide recommendations for any necessary updates or changes to policies and practices.
  • Provide training to the organisation on various legal issues associated with corporate, commercial or employment law matters.
  • Assist in the creation of new legal procedures for the organisation.
  • Stay updated on changes in applicable laws and regulations, proactively identifying potential risks and proposing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Monitor and advise on current and future legislation that might affect the business of the organisation.
  • Plan and execute internal audits, and work with the legal team (and other relevant business units) to address areas of risk.
  • Carry out any reasonably allocated duties and tasks, relevant to the role and the scope of activities by applying a flexible & adaptable customer centric approach to serve PeopleCert’s multinational presence and global operations across multiple time zones.

What we look for:

  • Bachelor Degree in Law; an LL.M. from a renowned law school would be considered a plus
  • Preferably qualified in Greece; dual qualification in the UK would be considered an asset
  • At least six years post-qualification experience (ideally with some prior in-house experience especially with a technology or intellectual property heavy company)
  • Sound knowledge of Greek commercial law (including corporate and intellectual property law); knowledge of employment law would be considered a plus
  • Excellent command of the English language (oral & written) (C2 level certification desired, or certificate would be a plus)
  • Advanced computer literacy is required. ECDL Advance level certification is desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively advise management and employees on legal matters with good business acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks, ensuring compliance with deadlines.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail. Ability to balance multiple priorities appropriately
  • Well organized, self-driven, flexible and able to work in a high-volume, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment
  • Forward thinking, robust, innovative and agile personality

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared.

If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include:

  • A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality, identity and place of residence)
  • HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter Terrorist Check (CTC)
  • Financial background check
  • Employment reference check
  • If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK

In addition, if personnel are required to speak to SELT candidates they must be appropriately skilled in English language and, where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK), the official language of the relevant country.
