Details of the Division and Team:

You will be a member of the Compliance team providing support and mainly responsible for the Shariah matters of the bank.

The Compliance Department seeks to protect the Bank’s licenses to operate and enforcing adherence with the laws, regulations, rules, the expectations of the regulators and driving a culture of compliance and ethical conduct of the Bank. Compliance aims to provide an independent, proactive and forward-looking challenge and advice to the Senior Management, Shariah Committee as well as the employees.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Compliance matters, including the Shariah compliance related to Deutsche Bank (Malaysia) Bhd and its related entities in Malaysia.
  • Responsible to ensure that internal compliance policies and regulatory requirements are adhered to within Malaysia, through advisory work, monitoring procedures, processes, raising awareness initiatives or in-house training sessions.
  • To advice the Board, Shariah Committee, Senior Management and the internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory requirements related to Shariah Governance. This includes keeping them informed on the development affecting legal and regulatory requirements, providing them with an assessment of the implications related to compliance risk profile and the capacity to manage the compliance risk.
  • Responsible in managing the non-compliance risk by performing the on-going Shariah Compliance review as per the BNM Shariah Governance Framework, assist in other applicable reviews and monitoring related to the core banking products.
  • Responsible to keep abreast of new products, technologies and applications as well as their implications for respective business areas.
  • Responsible in ensuring that adequate Shariah related training is provided to the employees on relevant legal and regulatory requirements governing the activities of the bank.
  • To support and responsible for other ad hoc duties or project as assigned from time to time.

Your skills and experience:

  • 4-5 years’ experience in a similar role within the financial services. A robust understanding of the Shariah Governance framework, principles and practices with relevant experiences in the Compliance roles.
  • It will be an advantage if the candidate holds at least a bachelor’s degree in Shariah, which includes study in UsulFiqh (the Origin of Islamic Law) and FiqhMuamalat (Islamic transaction/commercial law)
  • Strong teamwork, excellent communications skills in both written and verbal.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimum guidance and the ability to demonstrate initiative.
