Our finance /accounting team in Sofia, Bulgaria is continually growing, and we want to appoint a Segment Accounting Analyst to cover the EMEA region.

Main responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring complete, accurate and timely accounting, reporting and compliance for various group companies and branches
  • Prepare accounting entries in accordance with relevant accounting standards and policies
  • Perform month-end closing activities and prepare monthly financial reports, investigating significant variances in financial statement analyses
  • Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual VAT returns, annual audits, statutory financial statements (SFS), corporate income tax (CIT) returns and statistical reports
  • Provide all required information and documentation to local service providers
  • Assist with the completion of all external, internal and special audits
  • Maintain strong internal relationships with Compliance, IAS and Payroll; as well as external relationships with local service providers, advisors and auditors
  • Make recommendations for improvements in processes and/or quality of information reported and assists with implementation of action plans
  • Operate in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) internal control requirements
  • Support the set-up of new companies and branches
  • Complete ad hoc projects and tasks as required

Education / Qualifications:

  • Minimum – Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent number of years of experience
  • Part Qualified or Fully Qualified Accountant ACA/ACCA/CIMA

Experience:

  • 3– 5 years accounting, reporting and compliance experience, including VAT returns, audit, statutory financial statements and corporate income tax returns
  • Professional certification (CPA) and advanced Accounting degree - preferred
  • Adhere to a pro-active approach, with the ability to problem solve, and interact professionally with internal and external clients in order to meet everyone’s needs in an effective and timely manner
  • Demonstrate ability to plan, multi-task and prioritize
  • Proficient in Excel and Word (intermediate level)
  • Previous experience with ERP system (PeopleSoft preferred)
  • Problem solving skills
  • Experience in an international, multicurrency environment, preferably US corporate
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of US GAAP principles and internal control environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with large amounts of data
