This role is within the Network Design and Engineering group of LSEG, Networks Products & Services. This group is responsible for the Architecture and Design Standards of the network services required globally and the architectural integration to scale application services on prem as part of a hybrid multi-cloud strategy!

This is a senior technical position for an engineering specialist in a team focusing on elements such as DDI, Load balancing, firewall and security services and develop a strategy with LSEG business, product, architecture and design leadership.

There are elements elements of architecture, design, governance, and consultation to produce Network Service Architectures, Designs and Standards which align with business and architectural requirements.

As well as a proven technical background, the ideal candidate is able to follow industry standard development frameworks incorporating planning, design, implementation, operation and optimization and be able to effectively participate in multi-functional meetings, clearly articulate Network Service features and capabilities, translate business requirements into technical requirements, and ultimately, into outcomes that are fit for purpose and production-level use.

Day to day responsibilities

You will be responsible for network technology architecture, design, standardization, certification and development.Involved in the development of hardware, software and IaC lifecycles. Involving close collaboration with vendors’ technical teams.

You will either be defining standards or building network designs to pre-approved standards.As such you may either be spending time certifying, testing and crafting standards in the lab and documenting them or be crafting deployment specific designs for the Network Implementation team to follow. This will involve working with business and project customers to take requirements and turn them into network designs.

Required Skills and Experience

There may be some Product Owner level responsibilities to organise other specialists as part of a scrum – this though is optional/as fitting the candidate.

Deep and broad experience in a similar role

  • Responsible for analysis, function design, and problem solving for next generation network applications and services and software defined products.
  • In-depth vendor and hands on technical knowledge across a wide range of network application and services technologies and associated protocols
  • Ability to architect, design and define standards or build network designs for two of the following in priority order:
    • DDI (Infoblox)
    • Load Balancing (F5)
    • Firewalls (Checkpoint or Fortinet preferred)
    • Knowledge of technologies surrounding Enterprise Switches and Routers connecting to Cloud applications and cloud networking technologies in the areas of SDN, NFV, SD-WAN
  • Manage numerous projects with conflicting priorities in a constantly changing environment.
  • Strong social skills supported by expressive oral and written communication
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills
  • Excellent written English, presentation skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Task and results oriented ability to manage multiple streams of competing work concurrently and maintain a focus on results while thinking like a customer.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability and organization skills with a focus on goals and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Desired

These are beneficial skills

  • Design of automated network deployments and automation experience with on-prem / cloud platforms using tools such as Ansible or Terraform or python
  • Familiar with Git code repositories / pipelines and defining ‘Policy as Code’
  • Experience with multiple Cloud vendors (AWS, Azure, Google) in building and maintaining reliable infrastructure and security services
  • Financial Services Industry experience
  • Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Service orchestration, SDN, NFV and programmable networks
  • Experience with both Windows and Linux administration and systems management
