The focus of this senior sales role is to support our client bydelivering exceptional sales levels through best-in-class planning, sales execution, compliance, and reporting.

Gas Networks Ireland operates, maintains, and develops Ireland’s €2.7bn, 14,664km national gas network, which is considered one of the safest and most modern gas networks in the world. Over 720,000 Irish homes and businesses trust Ireland’s gas network to provide convenient and reliable energy to meet their heating, cooking, and transport needs.

The gas network is the cornerstone of Ireland’s energy system, securely supplying more than 30% of Ireland’s total energy, including 40% of all heating and close to 50% of the country’s electricity generation. By facilitating the roll-out of new technologies such as BioCNG in transport and replacing natural gas with renewable gases such as biomethane and hydrogen, Gas Networks Ireland is working to deliver a net-zero carbon gas network and support Ireland’s journey to a cleaner energy future.

The role of the Large I&C Sales Representative will primarily be to proactively connect new customers to the network. This will involve identification and conversion of new connection and equipment upgrade prospects at new and existing Industrial & commercial sites, with focus on large energy users with an annual demand for more than 5.5 GWh.

Incremental biomethane development which will inject biomethane into the network (either directly or by central grid injection facilities) will be a key cornerstone of the GNI offering for customers into the future. While the role is primarily focused on new I&C opportunities, there will also be some responsibility for negotiating and securing contracts with renewable gas producers

Requirements

  • Proactively identify new opportunities for large industrial and renewable gas injection connections.
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external teams to support the progression of new natural gas connection projects.
  • Be a strong advocate for the GNI future network which will have renewable gas(Biomethane & Hydrogen) at its core.
  • Demonstrate strong technical selling and negotiation skills to conclude contractual arrangements with customers and help meet our gas connection KPI’s.
  • Provide technical expertise to customers while leveraging an established network of industry contacts and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen and assist customers with exploring commercial routes to market.
  • Prepare for, and execute, best-in-class customer face-to-face meetings in accordance with the GNI Customer Sales Process to include presentations and board-room activity.
  • Efficiently manage sales funnel of opportunities while reporting monthly on activity, market trends and challenges.
  • Proactively seek positive improvements in the Gas Networks Ireland connections process by representing the customer’s voice.
  • Represent GNI at key industry events and function as a subject matter expert.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • 5-years’ experience in a technical sales function with experience in the energy or utility connections industry an advantage.
  • Keen interest in the gas industry and associated technologies preferably with a network of established contacts in the industry.
  • Commercially aware – able to identify opportunities and objectively judge them while influencing to a positive outcome.
  • Good understanding of business plans, business writing and commercial paybacks.
  • Achieve target levels of new connections.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence key decision makers.
  • Advanced presentation skills.
  • Experience in dealing with senior stakeholders/customers.
  • Proven ability to create and develop good working relationships and to influence effectively.
  • Proactively identify new areas of learning and use newly gained knowledge and skills to grow competence and expertise.
  • Ability to set own ambitious standards of performance and to deliver desired results.
