About Tech Lab

Tech Lab is our internal research and development team. We are a small team of engineers with dedicated capacity to work with innovative ideas sourced from all areas of our organization. We research to find answers, create proof-of-concepts to explore viability, and join forces with other teams to build novel solutions for production use. More importantly, we work as a catalyst for innovation in the company through collaboration and knowledge sharing. Our team is passionate, diverse, and driven by curiosity. We believe that different perspectives boost innovation and strengthen our working culture.

About the Role

We are looking for a person with strong software development skills and ample experience combined with a true interest in sharing knowledge with others, a great cross-team collaboration facilitator with a pragmatic mindset – someone who is proactive and knows what it takes for a team to get things done and have fun along the way.

Key responsibilities include:

• implementing ideas in code with your fellow teammates.
• designing solution architecture.
• facilitating ways of working within our own team and in new project constellations.
• collaborating with different stakeholders across the organization.

Technology Stack

The tech stack you would be working with is whatever the team finds best suited to solve the problem at hand. With that being said, some tech is more common than others at If, so proven experience in the following areas will be favorable:

• Azure Cloud and everything that comes with it, from Infrastructure-as-Code to optimization and monitoring.
• Azure DevOps and Git for CI/CD and Application Lifecycle Management.
• C# / .NET development.
• Web development with JS/TS and modern front-end frameworks.
• Python & Databricks.

More importantly, you should be open to learning and adopting new technologies and probably consider yourself more of a generalist than a specialist.

Who are you?

To succeed in this role, we think you are curious with a solution-oriented mindset – not afraid to try and learn new things. We also love having discussions and figuring out things together; therefore, we value a collaborative team mentality with a willingness to share knowledge and be open to giving and receiving feedback on work. Lastly, you should feel comfortable working in different team setups since we collaborate with many different teams across If.

This is a senior position, and you should have at least 5 years of professional software development experience and a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a relevant field of study. Equivalent experience can substitute for the lack of an academic degree. If is a Nordic and Baltic company, thus the working language is English. Additionally, proficiency in a Nordic language is favorable.

Hybrid work

We apply a hybrid work approach. You are welcome in the office anytime, of course, but at a minimum, you should be prepared to come in a couple of days per week when a collaborative setting is more beneficial (like whiteboard sessions, pair programming, etc.). We adapt to the current initiative we are working on; some projects do require more physical presence than others.
