What You'll Do
Weโre looking for a Senior Tools Programmer to work on tools and engine components for authoring and rendering terrains within Unreal Engine. This involves working with the current Landscape system and Water tools, supporting internal teams and licensees, as well as developing new technologies to raise the bar for the terrain capabilities within Unreal Engine. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has good communication skills, and the abilities and perseverance to analyze and resolve complex problems with a focus on end user workflows and performance.
In this role, you will
- Work with artists and content creators as well as developers in other teams to push the terrain tooling capabilities within Unreal Engine
- Resolve bugs and workflow issues for our internal teams and licensees
- Establish responsibility and de-facto ownership of core engine and editor components
- Debug and test performance critical code on various platforms
- Have a large degree of independence in making and owning implementation decisions
- Be part of an experienced distributed team
What we're looking for
- Excellent C++ skills with experience developing in a large codebase
- Demonstrated ability in working on graphics tools, including mesh and texture processing
- Experience with vector math, multithreading, and performance sensitive code
- Someone who is pragmatic, professional, and has a positive attitude
- Prior experience with Unreal Engine is a plus, but not required
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English
This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but arenโt limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epicโs generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
