About the role

Our future colleague will work in our Lifestyle division, on the newest innovating technologies, and get the chance to experience the products firsthand.

What you will do

  • Mechanical design and documentation of manufacturing assembly tooling including but not limited to sheet metal, injection molded plastics, aluminum extrusions, electrical-mechanical interfaces, sheet metal painting techniques (powder coat), mylar overlays with adhesives, utilizing 3D mechanical modeling techniques and simulation tools.
  • Mechanical design and documentation for manufacturing assembly processes (DFM).
  • Mechanical validation testing including but not limited to thermal cycling, drop testing, and vibration testing.
  • Interface with electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, contract manufacturers, procurement, off-site engineers, vendors, etc. during the design process.
  • Hold peer-based mechanical design reviews and document / report design aspects, test results, and project timelines to management.
  • Analyze field failures for mechanical design or manufacturing defects.
  • Manage and optimize cost structure and quality / reliability of all mechanical parts within the design

What you need

  • Minimum of 5+ years applicable working experience, from which at least 2 years in designing fixtures/jigs.
  • Experience with Unigraphics, SolidWorks, or other 3D CAD software and Master Model techniques.
  • Experience with various manufacturing processes, including extrusions, injection molding, sheet metal, and machining.
  • Thorough knowledge of materials, particularly related to corrosion and dissimilar metallurgy.
  • Experience with metal fabrication, paints, tooling, and tolerances involved.
  • Ability to design and conduct real-world tests for thermal and mechanical integrity.
  • Familiarity with millimeter-sized parts and membranes is a plus
  • Fundamental understanding of manufacturing process flow and design for manufacture
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
