We are seeking the potential to join our OFS - Instrument Manufacturing (IM). The role entails high-frequency engagements with senior management, and working-level team members, therefore, offers a great opportunity for candidates to gain knowledge and perspective of business at multiple levels.

As a Materials Engineer will be representing OFS - IM team in handling, sourcing, qualifying and purchasing the components and collaborating with NPI Engineering, Procurement and Production Engineering team on operational, strategic and identifying of quality and check on the performance and negotiating costs on materials with the existing or new suppliers. And have the opportunity to develop professional partnerships, coordinate and execution of tactical strategy and feedback on the key business.

Job responsibilities:

Supplier Management

  • Manage assigned commodities and suppliers to meet organization’s objectives related to quality, cost, delivery performance and schedule.
  • Perform regular performance review and collaborate with suppliers on value enhancement opportunities to drive continuous improvements.
  • Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and manufacturing to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances. Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Develop long-term supplier relationships and implement global procurement strategies.

Material Cost Reduction

  • Drive cost reduction initiatives to meet targets.
  • Aid Manufacturing in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials following a defined Resourcing process.
  • Explore new cost reduction opportunities through Value-engineering.

NPI Support

  • Consult with engineering/R&D personnel to establish performance criteria and specifications for suppliers. Communicate manufacturing specifications to suppliers.
  • Source and investigate potential suppliers and recommend suitable ones for NPI projects or existing products.
  • Perform RFQ and total cost analysis. Negotiate with suppliers on lead-time, cost, and quality to obtain the maximum benefit for the company.

In addition to the above:

  • Assure compliance to all applicable requirements pertaining to ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA and RoHS Directives.
  • Track commodities market trends and latest technological processes and provide input to management during the development of worldwide materials strategy.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and focus team to complete tasks on schedule.
  • Solve a broad range of problems varying in scope and complexity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors, Master’s Degree Electrical and Electronic, Engineering, or equivalent
  • 5 - 7 years of relevant working experience within manufacturing in quality, sourcing, procurement, process engineering and supplier quality management
  • Manufacturing experience in Electrical, PCBA or electro-mechanical components
  • Able to understand schematics and do basic circuit troubleshooting.
  • Have an analytical mind to evaluate technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations, supplier facilities, and availability of parts and equipment
  • Good understanding of various mechanical & electrical fabrication technologies and methods.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for commodities such as printed circuit board assemblies, power supplies, cables, custom battery packs, mechanical parts (plastics, machined, sheet metal), cables, etc.
  • Strong project management skills & experience in handling contract manufacturers, knowledge of SAP will be an added advantage
  • Must have knowledge of relevant regulatory standards and applicable regulations - ISO 13485
